Soon after William's second marriage on 24 January 1816 in Glasgow to Jane/Jean Merchant the couple emigrated to London where they had 4 children before Jane died. Do you have both SCOTT and MURRAY in your family tree?
Many members of our family have been given the middle name SCOTT. I am trying to find out where this came from. The first person I know of was my great grandfather JOHN SCOTT SINGLETON who was born in 1852 to Robert Peter SINGLETON and Harriet Matilda WHITE. From naming patterns in other parts of the family at that time it seems that the eldest son was often given the first name of his fathers father and his mothers or mothers mothers maiden name as a middle name. Now I know John Scott's mothers maiden name was WHITE and her mother Isabella's maiden name was MURRAY, and think perhaps HER mothers maiden name could have been SCOTT. I know Isabella was born in Glasgow but came to England (Reading, Berkshire) where she married in 1827. I know its a long shot but maybe there is someone who has both Scotts and Murrays in their family tree, who were in Glasgow at the start of the 19th Century.

red mail DONALD
Hello. CHARLES SMITH DONALD, born Glasgow on 24/12/1855. Son of ALEXANDER DONALD and MARJORY SMITH. Occupation was Baptist Minister. 1891 census shows Charles and his wife AGNES living in Govan, Glasgow. I can find no trace of Charles in Scotland or England in 1901 census; family knowledge states he visited his relatives in Co Durham, England some time in late 1930's or early 1940's. He is reported to have lived in Antrimville Manse, Belfast, N Ireland at some time but dates not known. Does anyone know where Charles and Agnes were from 1901 onwards and does anyone have any pictures or information on Antrimville Manse. Any information greatly appreciated. Thank you
red mail DONALD
Hello. I am looking for any information concerning ALEXANDER BEATTIE DONALD, born c1826 Aberdeen. Son of JAMES DONALD and ELIZABETH BEATTIE who were married at Dunnottar on 5/11/1808. Alexander married MARJORY SMITH at Stonehaven on 19/10/1846 and at the time of the marriage Alexander was a letter carrier in Aberdeen. The 1851 census shows Alexander to be a school master aged 25 living in School House, Lochlee, Angus with his wife and family. In the 1861 census Marjory Donald (Alexander's wife) and family are living at Govan, Glasgow and Marjory is shown as "Head of House" as Alexander is not there. I have Alexander's date of death as 18/11/1864 at Glasgow where he was a customs officer. I can find no trace of Alexander in Scottish or English census for 1861. Can anyone please help me find him? Thank you
