Stank Catterline near present day Bellfied
William BEATTIE born Parish of Dunnottar around 1773 and his wife Isobel KENNEDY were at Stank in 1807 when Son John was born in April that year I have the OPR. I ahve not been able to find a marriage record. Isobel may have been born in Fourdon. See my posting in Benholm for more details. However They had a daughter Penelope or Penny or Penuel born around 1810. I have not been able to fined a birth record for Penelope. She married Andrew MOWAT in Benholm in 1827 and lived and died in Bervie 1898. What happened to Stank? it is only on the old maps. Also can anyone help withPenelope's birth? Angus
Wardhead & Corbieknowe, Kinneff
In 1872 Munro Gove was born to Andrew GOVE and Martha BEGG. in 1897 he married Bridget WATT at King Street, Stonehaven. Bridget's sister by her father Thrift WATT's first Wife Isabella Lees Isabella WATT married Robert BEATTIE son of Robert BEATTIE crofter at Birdies Knap, Catterline. Subsequently the grandaughter of ROBERT & Isabella LEES named Jane Todd Sherrit BEATTIE married John C ANDERSON and they farmed Wardhead from about 1948 to 1970 ish when they retired to Anson Cottage and the properties were annexed by Slains Park. Talk about coming a full circle. I spent many happy holidays at Wardhead & Corbieknowe. I well remember the old man that lived there but forget his name. Would like to share information. Angus.
BEATTIE
Robert BEATTIE crofted at Birdies Knapp, Catterline from 1871 Cunsus untill 1891 Census when his son William and wife Ann WYLIE took over their deaths in 12912 and 1913. Buried Kinneff no MI. Willliam and Ann had a son William who was born on Edinburgh 1897. would like to know what happed to William after his parents death. Angus.
