BANCE / SIMMONS
I wonder if anyone can help please. I have Sophia BANCE marrying Thomas SIMMONS in 1835 in Milton-next- Gravesend. Sophia appears to have been born around 1815 in Wrotham but I haven't been able to discover any more about her family. She died in 1878 in Hythe Street, Dartford and had been a widow since Thomas passed away in 1850. There is a Sophia Shank BANCE born in 1813 but she appears to have died aged around 3 - 4 months. Any information on the BANCE surname would be greatly appreciated.

red mail BRATTEN Thomas
Looking for the parents and family of Thomas Bratten bc 1825 at Wrotham Kent. Married at Frindsbury 17 May 1849 to Eliza Jordan, daughter of Robert Collins Jordan Hairdresser, Thomas gave his father's name as being William Bratten, labourer at the time of his marriage.Thomas and Eliza only had the one child Mary Ann Jane Bratten born 31 May 1847 at Gravesend, her birth was registered as Mary Ann Jane Bratten, 2 High St Strood, at the time her father's occupation wsa given as Porter. Mary Ann Jane was christened at St George Gravesend 27 June 1847 as the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Jordan of 2 High Street Strood, father's occupation Porter. I think that Thomas may have been the son of Mary Ann Bratton/ Bratten from Wrotham who was removed from the Stanstead parish to Wrotham as a single pregnant woman in October 1824. This Mary Ann married William Hawley at Northfleet on 23 May 1830. William and Mary Ann lived at Gravesend, in 1841 they are listed as living at Gravesend with their children John 7, Louisa 4, Emily 2 and Thomas Hawley 16yrs listed at end. Mary Ann Hawley was 6 -5 yrs older than her husband William. She was born at Wrotham in 1801 daughter of John and Ann Bretton/ Bratton, William was born at Cobham 1807.Thomas was born c 1824-1825 at Wrotham. If there is anyone who can help confirm Thomas's parents it would be great to hear from you. Mary Ann and William's last child Sarah was christened at St George Gravesend in 1842 and buried from there in 1845. It would be hard for Thomas and Eliza to christen their daughter there especically as they were not married. Hence the christening under Eliza's maiden name. Sometimes Hawley is spelt as it sounds Halley

red mail Frederick Langridge b Wrotham approx 1835
I am seeking information on Frederick Langridge, details above, who married an Amy Agnes (unknown) b 1838 in Croydon, Surrey. They would have got married about 1855-1860 (if the did get married, that is), and they had a daughter Ann b approx 1861 in Croydon (for whom I can find no birth certificate with Fred and Amy as parents). I believe Fred and Amy are my great great grandparents; they lived in Croydon from before 1871, until their respective deaths in 1907 and 1905 respectively. They were buried in Mitcham Road Cemetery, Croydon. I have so far not been able to find any links to parents or brothers and sisters for Frederick. Any information gratefully received
