Hi I am seeking any information re the Gammon family of Albion Villas and the Verey family who owned the Bird in Hand in Dartmouth road Forest Hill.
Rodwells in Upper Sydenham
I researching my grandfather Walter Player born South Norwood 1888, but am finding it very difficult to make much headway. He had a sister known as Kate but may have been called Katherine . I have his old diary with her address in which was 28 Bradford Road just off Wells Park Road, Sydenham SE26. Her birthday was 29th December. There was a K.A.Rodwell that lived at 41 Chesham Road, Penge between 1956 and 1983 . I know she had quite a few sons so am hoping that someone may have some information about her as it may be a key to making progress in finding more about my grandfather and his descendants.

Owen MARCHANT, a labourer, married Sarah Ann GRAVES (her father was named Charles, a carpenter) in Sydenham on 26 Oct, 1873. Several of their sons fought for Britain in the Great War. Their family lived at 32 Bradford Road and at 15 and 34 Halifax Street amongst other places. John and Emily WESTWOOD nee DANCE (her father was named William, a blacksmith) lived at 106 Wells Road, Sydenham in 1892. John worked as a cabman. Their daughter Charlotte Jane (my great grandmother) married Owen and Sarah MARCHANT's son Henry William (my great grandfather) at St Philip's Sydenham on Sep 28,1913.

Amy Matilda Rippengal nee BROWN was lost then she was found but now she is lost again. She was born in Sydenham in 1832/3. She married a Rippengal but which one and where? Then she married Edmund Sturgess of Roade. Her father was JOSEPH HENRY BROWN, a grocer,probably born about 1800 but where? Amy died before 1864 but where? Someone out there must have her in his/her family tree. Please help me find her.

I am searching for any information on a Florence Cooke who had a daughter Kathleen Campbell Cooke, birth registered in 1894 in Sydenham. Florence gave her address at that time as 15, PeakHill Gardens. Kathleen later, on her marriage in 1916 gives herfathers name as George Cooke. He may have been either a local builder or possibly in the Forces as they travelled to Egypt and Australia 1903 - 1907 approx. Any info greatly appreciated.
