red mail CLAIRE (the daughter of Joseph P HARWOOD and Dorothy May READ)
My grand mother Claire was born in The Pemberton Hospital in Kent in June 1934 and her mother was Dorothy May READ, the daughter to Eliza Georgina Lee HARMAN (bumstead). Grandmother was adopted and raised as Iris P Brand in Essex. Dorothy May Read died in 1975 in Crawley. Nan never knew much about ancestry. She tracked down her biological relatives late, after Dorothy was already long dead but did not find much. I've managed to track Nan's maternal ancestry lineage all the way back unto a young jewish girl called Kezia Sharpe/Shapiro, the mother to Elizabeth Carter Sharpe (1780 - 5 October 1868). Thank you for any help in advance. -Oliver.
Maud WINTER
Has anyone ever come across Maud WINTER, my wife's gt. grandmother, who was a music hall artist c. 1881 to 1901. Her maiden name was HENRY and she subsequently called herself Mrs Maud LUDLEY, although there is no record of any marriage to her "husband" George Frederick LUDLEY a professional musician who also used the stage name WINTER. She was born in Canada in 1869 and moved to Liverpool then Manchester. However, we have a photograph of her in her stage outfit which was taken by W. Edmond Wallis, 74 High Street, Sevenoaks which seems to indicate that she may have been in Sevenoaks or the surrounding area during her music hall career.

red mail John Henry Bartlett b 1870 Pikecoon Surrey
I have come to a dead end in researching my 2nd great grandfather John Henry BARTLETT b1870 in Pikecoon (?) Surrey. He married Ellen BAKER (b1869 in Crockham Hill, Kent) in 1891 Sevenoaks, Kent. His mother was Mary (b 1849, Hurstpierpoint, Sussex) but was a widow on the record I have found. I would love to go back another generation and find out Marys maiden name and the Bartlett she married. Any further information on Ellen Baker would also be brilliant.
red mail Robinson Relatives
I would like to find any relatives on my paternal side, they would be connected via my father Paul Geoffrey Robinson (b.1946). His parents were Ralph Bertram "Robbie" Robinson and Pamela Mabel (Eve) Robinson nee Thompson. He has one brother Peter Robinson and one sister Sarah Louise Robinson. He also had a half brother who unfortunately passed away at the age of 18. I know that at one time the family lived in Sevenoaks.I have been in touch with 2 relatives but am being avoided due to my fathers actions whilst residing in the UK (way before I was born). I would like to point out that I understand that it is neccesary to avoid my father and that I do not have contact with him. Also, I remember my father mentioning a third child (other than myself and my brother). Any information confirming if this is true or false would be greatly appreciated. My mother passed away suddenly on the 18th. I have no other family at all. I'm sorry if this sounds like a sympathy plea but that is just the situation I am in. Any information and/or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

red mail Looking for any male Standens emigrating to Australia from 1940 - 1970
I am looking for information on an uncle I never knew. All I know is that his surname was Standen, and that he married Eileen Muriel Smith (b. Oct 1913 in Sevenoaks). Apparently they had a son, and then for some reason, the family split up and father & son went to Australia, while Eileen stayed in or around Sevenoaks (though they may not have lived in Sevenoaks when they were together as a family). I now live in Australia, but only just found out about this part of my family - so am curious to see if I actually have a cousin here that I never knew about.

red mail Re Almshouses
From - The New and Complete British Traveller 1784 p 031 Sevenoaks or Sennock In the reign of Henry V. one Sir John Sevenoke, lord-mayor of London, and formerly a poor foundling, brought up by the benevolence of the people, built an hospital for the support of aged persons, and a free-school for the education of the youth of this town, in gratitud for the favours shewed him by the inhabitants. ( Note DNB has him as Sir William Sevenoke c1378-1433? and says he was mayor of London 1418. the almshouses for 20 poor people were devised as a result of his 4th will dated 14th July 1432 ). In the reign of Henry VIII the hospital received considerable benefactions, and in the reign of Queen Elizabeth, that learned princess, augmented the revenues of the school, and it is now called by her name.
