red mail Forwood's of St Lawrence, Kent
The oldest ancestor we have found in a continuous lineage is a Thomas Forwood, b.1588 Faversham, Kent and his siblings being, Ann Forwood 1591& James Forwood,1590 both b. Tenterden, Kent. One of the next generations, another John Forwood 1620 went to Sandwich who became the local butcher in St. Mary's and married a local girl, Mary Does in 1643 (and her father was Richard Does from there as well) and they had a son John, 1644,b. at St Mary's, Sandwich. From there the family started to spread throughout the Kent region. Our first member to live in St. Lawrence was Richard Forwood, b. 1770 in Deal. He married a local girl, Marry Parker, in 1791. Issue born in St. Lawrence were; Richard Forwood,b.1792 & d.; Mary Forwood 1794; Elizabeth Forwood 1796, m. Charles Hutchins 1823 in Deal; Thomas Forwood 1797-1798;Richard Forwood 1800 who was a coachman there & married Catherine Tyrell at Bridge in 1830. Since then there has been Forwoods in the region. If any one would like to contact me I have a very large amount of information including the Essex, Devon areas and have found them as far north as Yorkshire and Scotland, over to Ireland, Wales, America, Canada and Australia. There are small splatterings of Forwood's throughout Europe as well. I am in Australia and we are from every State now. I would love to hear from you. Cheryl

In the early 1890s they briefly lived at Herne Hill, London, before moving to Brighton permanently I am trying to track down as many details of the Smiths' marriage and movements as possible. If anyone has any information relating to their time in Ramsgate, St Lawrence, or indeed anywhere else, or the Bayley family, I should be grateful if they would get in touch. Thanks
Zara Kemp
I am searching for the ancestors of my great grandfather, Zara Kemp, born in 1851 and died at sea in 1896. Zara's father was James Young Kemp, born in 1808, also a mariner, although Zara's Christian name would indicate some eastern european ancestry. The family kept a lodging house for some years, commenced by James's wife, Sarah, probably in the 1860's and passed on to Zara on James's death in 1891. Zara's wife was Harriet Goldfinch, daughter of George Frederick Goldfinch, but I cannot trace George's marriage or parents.
