red mail James Croucher
James Croucher was born in Hothfield in 1825. He married Rebecca Brenchley in 1849. His father's name was given as James. The 1841 census gives three children called James born circa 1825-1827. I don't have his mother's name. I am wondering was he born out of wedlock or maybe adopted. I had thought I had found him, where there was a James showing as son of Robert and Mary Croucher from the 1841 census, but when I got his Marriage Cert for 1849 it said his father was James. He was my Great - Great grandfather on my father's side. My g-grandfather was Charles born in Ashford West in 1851. Any information re mother's Christian name even would be very welcome.

George married Elizabeth Watson they had a daughter Louisa - she married Thomas Eward Stace - they were my Great Great Grandparents - any info, photos etc would be welcome
red mail Pratt nee Quant
I am searching for info on a relative I actually met in the early 70's when she was her late 70's. Stella Quant was born in Maidstone in 1890, daughter of Mary Jane Rowland (of Buckingham). Stella married Frank Pratt (of where?). I can't find any info on Frank. Stella lived late in life at Pear Tree Cottage in Hothfield (on the Maidstone Road) and was actually killed on the Maidstone Road, by a coach she was hurrying to catch, in the 1970's. I can't trace a death cert at the moment. Does anyone have any info. Also, my mother insists Stella worked for Lord Allenby (!) in his house - did he have a house around Hothfield, Stella didn't drive. Thanks,
