Ernest Theo SWAFFER m. Joan (Pat) HOWARD, 1938
Ernest SWAFFER married Joan (known as Pat) HOWARD in December 1938 at Whitstable - does anyone have any information on this or know of any living relatives of Ernest Theo SWAFFER? Before they married, Ernest lived at 'Ship House', Boughton-under-Blean with his parents, Albert Edwin and Alice SWAFFER, and Joan (Pat) was living at the Dunkirk Cafe & Filling Station with her father (Joseph HOWARD). They apparently had a child (a boy) some time between 1937-39 named Leslie, though it is now thought possible that Ernest was possibly not the father, and Leslie the result of an earlier relationship. Joan and Leslie lived for a short time at New Cottages, Dunkirk (just along from the Red Lion), possibly early 1939. It is possible the existance of Leslie was not widely known as I have spoken to a couple of people who knew Ernest and had no knowledge of a child, or indeed, of Ernest ever having any children at all. Ernest SWAFFER later married an Elsie JOHNSON in 1948 and lived in Crispin Close, Faversham - does anyone know anyone related to Elsie? It is believed she may have moved back up north after Ernest died in 1974. Any information would be greatly appreciated, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Thanks also to everyone who has helped with this in the past but the mystery is still unsolved! With thanks, Pete
