Looking for information on the following Mc/MacDonald family, all apparently born in Glenurquhart between 1720 and 1772, but possibly associated with the Glenmoriston Mc/MacDonalds: John McDonald was born at Glen Urquhart and belonged to the Glencoe McDonalds. At the time of the Glencoe Massacre, 1692, one of the McDonalds fled to Glen Urquhart and settled there. John McDonald was a grandson or great grandson of that man. Thanks in anticipation, Jim
red mail Ramsay and MacDonald, about 1845 - (Easter Boleskine - Inverness-shire)
Does anyone have a place and date for the marriage of Alexander Ramsay (b.25th June 1826 in Boleskine, Inverness-shire) and Ann(e) MacDonald (b about 1825, Kilmorack, R & C)and the place and dates of birth of their two oldest sons: William (b about 1846) and Euan (b about 1849) (Euan's name is often transcribed as Evan). This part of the Ramsay family is strongly associated with Boleskine and it is likely that the marriage and sons' births occured there, although they may also have been married near Ann's family home in Kilmorack. Census returns for both Euan and William give place of birth as Glen Urquhart, so this is also a strong possibility. Please can anyone do a look up in the parish registers for these places?
