red mail Richard Crouch (Crowch) of Hertfordshire
Looking for the parents of Richard Crouch (Crowch) of Hertfordshire. He came to America in Jan 1726 as an Indentured Servant recruited in London and settled in Henrico County latter Goochland County, Virginia, USA. His indenture period was four years and he purchased 150 acres of land almost immediately after his indenture was over. As he had to be at least 21 years of age to buy land it is thought he was born by or before 1709. There was also a Mary Crouch in Goochland, Virginia at this time and it is not known if she was related to the Richard Crouch that I'm interested in.
Mary WILMOT née POTTER 1786
Mary WILMOT was convicted of larceny at Elstree on 3 May 1810 (Easter Sessions Class HO27 Piece 6, Page 94 Larceny) and deported to Australia leaving England 21 January 1811 on "Friends". She gave birth to Elizabeth during the voyage - the ship arrived October 1811. On 30 March 1813 in Windsor, NSW, she married Daniel BROWN. He, too, arrived in NSW 18th January 1812 on the "Guildford" as a convict. On 16 February 1822 a request was made on behalf of Daniel BROWN for Richard POTTER ("his wife's brother") to be released to his employ. This is proof that Mary WILMOT was, indeed, Mary POTTER. There is a suggestion that her previous husband was William WILMOT but I am seeking evidence of this if anyone can help. Joan
