red mail The Smith Family of Tring
Hello, I have been researching my Smith family of Tring for some years and have added some new pieces to the puzzle which have only served to add more questions. Perhaps someone else can be of assistance. My gggrandmother was Diana/ Dinah Smith born 1815. I always assumed her to be the daughter of an AgLab named Francis as per the birth record I have found. However, she married Richard Bould/ Bowl , son of Yeoman farmers from Oddington Gloucestershire. They married in Paris France as was the fashion of the well to do in those days. Her obituary which was recently found, says that she was a well educated woman, having been given a full education as a young girl and was the daughter of a wealthy family. How do I go about tracing people of "financial substance" in this area. I know there was a wealthy Smith who owned Tring Park breifly in the early 1800's, but I have no reason to beleive that this is my Smith as he had no issue and left his Baron title to a nephew. Could my Smith family be the "Poor relations?" Where can I search for say tax records or information prioir to the 1841 census? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

The Kipping/Millo marriage was pivotal in my ancestry, as it moved the family out of silk-weaving and into greengrocery.

red mail George Wright and family
My gt. grandfather George Wright was born to William the miller of Hastoe, Tring about 1836 - no baptism found. He married Elizabeth Bishop of Cholesbury at New Mill chapel, Tring in 1859. Her father was Innholder of the Queens Head in Cholesbury. They had five sons and four daughters. Two sons emigrated to Canada, three to the USA. All the girls remained in England , but moved away from the Tring area. A family story has it that George worked for the Rothschild family at Tring Park, but I have not been able to prove this. I have proved that in 1891 he owned the White Lion at Aston Clinton. Any information welcome.
