1802-1880, I believe to be my GG grandfather, father of Elizabeth Selina West 1843-1924, who was married to Henry Connop Edwards. Elizabeth was christened in Titley and William Henry West and wife Elizabeth were listed as her parents. Any knowledge of this line would be greatly appreciated.

red mail Job Lewis and John Powell
A slightly unusual request! Not sure if anyone may be able to help? Many years ago I bought a copy of an esoteric book entitled "Hoppus's Measurer"; a handy ready reckoner for artisans who needed to estimate all manner of things from cube of a log to panes of glass etc etc. It was evidently of some age and of interest to me as I am an architect. I bought it in an antique and s/h bookshop in Hampstead, London. So a Lewis family member may have ended up in London. When I got it home I noticed two inscriptions inside the front cover, one by the original owner John Powell, dated 1821, giving his address as Titley near Stansbatch, and underneath an undated note signed Job Lewis saying that it had been given to him by his uncle. Job Lewis did not inscribe his address. I have always been slightly embarrassed to own a book so carefully inscribed by it's owners and would be happy to return it to anyone who has a bona fide family link back to Job Lewis or John Powell. However my attempts at finding such folk have always drawn a blank. This enquiry is inevitably speculative but I hope that someone who is researching the Powell/Lewis families Kind regards, Michael, Gloucestershire
