Hi, Recently was given information on my grandparents Frederick John Read and Jean Elizabeth Carney. There was an uncle somewhere in the family although unsure which side this was on and have no names etc. Apparently his father was a percy read circa 1887 and his mother was a Lucy New, they were married in the march quater of 1916. Percy had 6 other siblings according the census. Percys parents were George Read 1856 and Fanny 1860(possibly spanner or wearn)According to the census they lived at 39 South Street in Newport, does anyone have any other information on these people including maybe other siblings names, or any documents which can help me link these in to my family (as unsure if the information is correct)

I am searching for any information on my G G G grandfather James Chapman who was sent as a convict to Australia in 1839. He was arrested on Blackfriars Bridge with a friend John Small for stealing a pocket handkerchief, and sent to Australia for 14 years. On his convict indent it states he was a native of Hampshire, a carpenter and could read and write.He was aged 23aprox. He married in Australia and then went to Queensland where one son (also James was born on 17.8.1843) some time after he was we believe killed by natives(no proof) his wife remarried and had a large family and James jr returned, when a young man back to NSW where he married and had a large family. however he couldn't read or write and when his children were regis tered they were registered CHATMAN. I know I have not much information to go on, but wondered if anyone has an ancestor called James Chapman who disappeared in the late 1830"s if they may be able to shed some light on James Chapman's family back in Hampshire. Lilian Joan Smith was born, Avenue Road Sandown. 1924. Two weeks later her mother Winnifred Dorothy Smith (nee Blow)died. Winifred's death cer. said "wife of deceased Ernest smith. (a gunner)" So Ernest may not have been the father. (cannot find a death cert.) Lilian was fostered 3yrs later. We do not know where she was taken after birth. Winnifred and Ernest were married in 1912. We belive they may have had three children Edith, Leslie, and Barbara. born between 1913 and 1920. (half siblings of Lilian. Have found these three on BMD's Smith/Blow Thank-you 1 does any-one have Winnifred , Ernest and these three children in their tree. 2 does any-one know how I would find where lilian went Have been in touch with Isle of Wightcouncil and they said any info would have been destroyed. Please help dos anyone know anything on a THOMAS HENRRY JONES? I know he married a ELEANOR LOUISA BRETT. In 1905 and lived in WEST COWES ISLE OF WIGHT & HAD 5 KIDS 3 BOYS & 2 GIRLS THEY WERE JOHN < KNOW AS BILL>, CHARLES,THOMAS,VERA & ELLEN. His dads name was Joseph Jones Thomas was killed in the somme in 1916. I will be greatfull for any info on him.
I have been researching my Great Grandmother and its like detective work. I was originally advised her name was Frances Ponder. It would seem that she was actually Frances Goatley as per her marriage certificate. However it has come up with fater unknown. Digging about further it seems she was possibly born out of wedlock and registered as Frances Margaret Smith (other surname interest Goatley) I have traced FM Smith in the 1881 census living with John and Anne Cullum. Thru various searches have found her turn up with William Goatley as father in 1891 lodging with the Ponders who were inlaws to Williams other daughter. Williams wife's maiden name was Cullum, am now trying to establish what relation John Cullum was to Frances Humphries Cullum............. anyone out there know any of these names?

James Bright was my 3xgreatgrandfather. He was born in Yarmouth I.O.W. in about 1804. By 1841 he was an OUTDOOR CUSTOMS OFFICER in Bristol and was married to Eliza Glover from Shipham in Somerset. Theyhad at least 5 children, Elizabeth, James, Mary, William and Phoebe, the youngest, who was my greatgrandmother. I would be interested to find out about his parents and also to find out about any descendents of Phoebes siblings.

All I have is the copy of an entry in Freshwater parish records showing his birth as 1819 and baptism as 1820 registered by his mother Jane giving residence as Norton. Later on his marriage cert (1844) his father's name is given as Fred. I went to Winchester but could find nothing more. Does anyone know anything about the Pococks on I O W? Family story is that Jane was French and on some documents his middle name is given as Ferney( various spellings). Has anyone any information that might be useful?
