red mail Upper Clatford in the 1700's
1729 marriage of Thomas Harding to Sarah Carter in Upper Clatford. Can anyone give me a brief history of Upper Clatford around this time, up to 1792? Any industry? Where parish records would be kept from this period? Where did they work? Are they buried locally? Anything at all. My interest extends from the above marriage as the daughter of Thomas married a Thomas Fidler in 1756 - their family of five children gradually increased over the years. Any information on the Fidler family and the area history around 1756 would be a great help please.

red mail Smith family 1881-1921
I am researching the family of Charles Smith born London about 1831. He lived in the village with his family of five children in 1881 after the death that year of his wife Susan. He was an army pensioner from the Ctimean war had married Susan Sivier in 1868 at Middle Wallop living in Grately before moving to Upper Clatford. In 1881 he was working as a labourer at the iron foundry and continued to live in the same cottage in the village until the 1901 Census. In 1911 he was living at Sunnyside Upper Clatford with his daughter Sophia Mary Redman and her husband. He died at that address in 1921. I am not sure of his exact date of birth though I am pursuing his military service records. Does anyone have details of Clatford school in the 1870s and 1880s please or any other information about the family?
