HOLLAM HOUSE SCHOOL
Last year when visiting Titchfield I found Hollam House which was the school my family attended around 1900, until 1908 when family circumstances changed. I would love to know more about the school and if there are any records kept. It is now apartments but the buildings still remain and the grounds are quite spectacular as are the views looking back towards St Peter's I believe.

I am interested in anything on the family LOVE who came from Titchfield. Edward Love born ca. 1770, married Sarah GREEN from East Meon and had seven children including John Love, born 1800 who became a surgeon. He moved to London, got married and had eight children including Alice Hannah Love who married my great grandfather Frederick David NELSON in Teheran in 1872. A grandson Augustus Love discovered the existence of waves of short wavelength in the Earth's crust called 'Love waves'.

I am searching for my great grandfather who was a field worker on Titchfield Common having moved from Newcastle in search of work. His son Maurice James Buxey was my grandfather and believed to haven been orphaned as a result of his parents (field workers)dying of pneumonia. I heard there was an orphanage as well as a laundry at the rear of the Joseph Paxton Hotel and that Maurice James Buxey grew up and worked there for a while. My grandfather married Olive Taulbut they lived in Wriothesley House in East Street Titchfield & became a tailor. But with the advent of ready-made suits he started a gravel haulage business at Locks Heath. My grandfather more commonly known as James never knew his parents. Any info much appreciated.

My paternal Grandmother was Jane Elizabeth Windebank, born 25th October 1896 in Titchfield. 1901 Census shows her residing at West Street, Titchfield. Her parents were Ellen Mary Windebank nee Vaughan and George Thomas Windebank. Ellen Mary's D.O.B = 13th May 1872 @ Sarisbury. Her mother was Emma Vaughan nee Dimmick. Ellen's father was Josesph Vaughan D.O.B = 1851, Fawley.

Ida Dorothy TUCKER daughter of Ernest F H TUcker and Dora Annie TUCKER, born July 1893, lived at Coach & Horse Inn South, st, Titchfield 1901 with several brothers. Ida moved to London sometime before my father's birth Nov 1922. In1917 she had twin boys Percy and Harold believe they may have been fostered like my father was. It seems none of the brothers (Percy, Harold or Maurice knew of each others existance) Ida lived in London until about 1975, she returned to Hampshire as is shown by death records as she died in Hampshire 1976. Does anyone know where she was living and who cared for her, where she is buried, what church etc. Grand daughter seeking help. Any info warmly received.
