red mail Ann Jallings, Richard Nash, Robert Fletcher
Trying to solve a mystery here! Ann Wilkes Jallings was a naval widow; her last son, probably born posthumously after his father's death at sea, was named James Robert Fletcher Jallings (b 1852)--I'd love to know why-- was Robert Fletcher a naval friend of her husband's on his last voyage perhaps, or someone from her own extended family background in Lichfield/West Bromwich Staffs area? In 1855 she m. Richard Nash, a grocer in Southampton according to 1851 census; in 1858 they sailed for New York but ended up in Halifax NS by 1860. She was 12 years older than he but from boat listings he may not have known that. She apparently d. in NS in early 1860's and son James RF may also have died as other son in family-- John Henry Jallings, my gr grandfather--never spoke of having a brother, only 2 sisters. Richard Nash moved to Ontario by 1869 and remarried to Jennet Currie from Scotland, but with his youngest stepdaughter, Elizabeth Ann Jallings, still living with them. Anyone with any info re Richard Nash or Robert Fletcher or Ann Wilkes Jallings Nash?? Hard to get anymore here in Ontario!

red mail Rosetta Payne married Bray/Williams/Williams
Rosetta was born in Romsey in 1896 and was the daughter of Frederick PAYNE and Edith VANDERPLANK. Edith was missing from the 1901 census and nothing more is known about her. Rosetta's two sisters were brought up by other family members and Rosetta was adopted by Phillip Charles Saunders Tillyer and his wife Mary Ann BROWN. I believe they lived in MILLBROOK, Southampton. Rosetta married (1)Frederick William BRAY (2) Edward WILLIAMS (3) Edward Albert WILLIAMS. She had nine children by these three husbands. Rosetta was my mother's half sister, and her children would be my cousins. I only found out about her existence recently, and would like to hear from any of Rosetta's descendants. I wonder why Rosetta was adopted by Phillip and Mary SAUNDERS TILLYER, and who they were. I don't know if her mother died or left home. I only know that her father Frederick Payne later married my grandmother and raised several other children who all have descendants in the Southampton/Romsey area and some even in America. I knew Rosetta's sisters and am still in touch with one of their children now. Rosetta's family tree is on a website along with photographs of her and her family.

red mail MYERS CHRISP BOVILL - SOUTHAMPTON AND ISLE OF WIGHT
I should be delighted to hear from anyone researching any of the above familes, all of whom were resident in Southampton and/or the Isle of Wight from the 1840s through to the opening years of the 20th Century. In particular, I am interested in information relating to James John Myers, a printers' engineer born in Stepney circa 1820. His wife, Mary, appears in the 1870s to have formed a relationship with a Walter Bovill, iron merchant of South Stoneham, but not before bearing her husband at least eight children. During Mrs Myers' time with Mr Bovill, she took over his house, and her son, James Stregnall Myers (later Bovill-Myers), took over his business at 72 High Street, Southampton. Meanwhile, James John Myers appears to have sired at least six children by an Annie Chrisp of Ryde and other places, all of whom were wet nursed by the Phillips and/or Cooper families in Eling (New Forest). Those cared for by the former eventually went to live with their father at 4 Brunswick Place, Southampton, shortly before he was admitted to a Southampton workhouse, where he died a brain-fevered pauper in 1904. Those of the Chrisp-Myers children wet-nursed by the Cooper family remained in their care and eventually assumed their surname. As well as information relating to James John Myers, I would also welcome help with tracing some or all of the children that in one way or another, bore his name. The children of James and Mary Myers were Jane Mary (b.1847), Mary Annie (b.1849), Frederick George (b.1851) James Stregnell (b.1855), Floura Alice (b.1857), Emely Maud (b.1859), Jessie R (b. 1863), and Annie Octavia (b.1868). The children of James John Myers and Annie Chrisp were Lucy Chrisp Myers (b.1875), Bertram Chrisp Myers (b.1877), Arthur Chrisp Myers (b.1878), Edith Chrisp Myers (b.1879), Albert Chrisp Myers (b.1882), Charles Chrisp Myers (b.1883) Annie E Myers (b.1884), and Margaret Myers (b.1885). There were other Chrisp-Myers children around in Eling in 1891 but no trace beyond that one census.

red mail Scorey Family
My Scorey family (my Grandmother's name) are first found in Minstead in the New Forest but had come to Southampton by c1805. I am interested in all the families of that name and have lots of information on many of them that I am willing to share. As many moved away from Hampshire I have collected information on them wherever they are found. I have been doing a one-name study on the SCOREY (also spelt SCORY & SCOUREY) surname now for some years, and have considerable information on baptism, marriage & burials, civil registration indexes & Wills. Apart from Hampshire the other main group is from the southern Devon & Cornwall border area, and the north-east England group mainly from a Scorey born in Paris as a British subject. The Yorkshire Scorey's are also known in the main as SCORAH, I do not know of any connection to the other Scorey's.
