My 4 x great grandmother Ann Halloday was born in Minstead in 1760 and married there in 1781 to Edward Cheyney. She was the daughter of John and Anne Halloday (nee Lock). John was a churchwarden at All Saints Church, Minstead and in March 1779 he signed an agreement to hang three bells in the tower at Minstead. John and Anne also had a daughter Sarah born about 1767 and a son John born about 1769. I would be really pleased to hear from anyone who has connections, or knows anything about this family.
Hi, Researching the Broomfield/Bromfield family who originate from the New Forest area. Connections with Minstead go back to my 8th Great Grandfather John Bromfield (1650-1705) who had 5 children - William, Thomas, John, Elizabeth and Margaret. My line descends from his son William Bromfield (b.1670) & Mary Jarvis then to Robert Bromfield (b.1704) & Susan, then Matthew Bromfield (b.1740) & Mary Axford.
