red mail Looking for old maps and information
I am looking for old maps of the village and surrounding area's that would depict what the area looked like especially the village in the 1600's. Also, I know the village had a famous witch and has a shop called the coven of witches, but does anyone know of any activity in or around the village at the time of the famous witchhunts during the civil war. I would appreciate any information. Thank you.
Lester family of Burley
My Mother was Roma Lester d/o Hedley Lester and Catherine Dunnings(see Dunnings details under Eling, Hants). I have traced the family back to Fordingbridge around 1600's but its a bit hazy around then of course. They then moved to Ringwood where most marriages, births and deaths are recorded until Burley had it own Church around 1825. Other families closly involved are BROWNING or BROWNEN, GODDEN, SIMS, HEDGES and MARCHANT. One of the Marchants belived to have been involved in fishing or whaling off Newfoundland but nothing definate known.
