Thomas BRISCOE (one of my Briscoe family, from Bolton in Lancashire) married Harriet Elizabeth Meyrick ELLIS from Churcham. They ended up in Chelsea but both are buried in Churcham. One surviving son was still in London in 1901.
DAVIS WILLIAM CHARLES 1856 - (Churcham - Gloucestershire)
William Charles DAVIS was the son of George and Mary (nee CORSON), DAVIS, he was born at New Brompton, Gillingham, Kent. March qtr. 1856 He was still living at home in the 1871 Census but after that he seems to have disappeared. He may have come to New Zealand but am not able to find him there to this date. His father, George DAVIS was a bricklayer, born ca.1800 at Hartpury, Gloucestershire. In 1879, George, hs wife Mary and their two daughters, Clara and Fanny, sailed to New Zealand on the "Westland" They settled in Christchurch. Clara and Fanny married brothers, Alfred and Edward MARSHALL who were my gr gr Uncles. William is the missing peice of this jigsaw and I wold very much like to find him. Any information on this family wold be gratefully recieved.

I am looking for a William and Mary CORSON or sometimes spelt CAUSTON. Both were born in Churcham about 1800, according to the 1861 Census and were still living there at time. They had a daughter Mary who was born in 1830. Mary married on the 6th Feb. 1849 at Churcham to a George DAVIS of Hartpury. George and Mary came to New Zealand in 1879 and I am hoping to find something of Mary's family.

Does anyone know of the NIPPRESS family. Henry Nippress B.1822(?)married Louisa Jane WALTER at Codrington in July 1850.They sailed for New Zealand on the "Charlotte Jane" 7th Sept 1850. Henry was to manage a farm for a Lady Emily BATHURST. Henry died of thyphoid the following April 1851. Louisa Jane had a child in August who also died shortly after her birth. We would like to know something of the NIPPRESS family that Henry came from.

My 2x gt grandmother was born at the Swan Inn in Long Lane Corse and Staunton in 1856. Her mother Elizabeth Whitehouse , her father John Bentley, and perhaps Elizabeth's brother William had children there over four or five years in the mid 1850s. They were travellers. William was to settle in his home town of Longton Staffordshire, and Elizabeth to marry Isaac Bentley and travel to Walsall, but for a while the families were passing through Corse on the way to markets presumably Ledbury and Tewkesbury. Does anyone know anything about such travels or the Swan Inn at this time?

My direct ancestor James migrated to New Zealand in 1878. His father and grandfather were both William and both married a BALDWIN woman.

A John Porter married my Gx3 Grandmother, Sarah HUMPHRIS, on 19 December 1829, also at DIDBROOKParish Church. Sarah Humphris was probably the (Spurious) daughter of Ann Humpris and was baptised, on 23 October 1803, at St. Peters Parish Church, WITHINGTON, Gloucestershire. Richard James (b: Donnington 1959, bap: 25 Mar 1759) was my G x 3 Grandfather. He was born in Donnington in abt1759. He married Elizabeth. The had known children John (b:1795), George (b: 18 Feb 1798abt, my Gx2 Grandfather) and William (b: 1817-1821), the first two at least while still in Donnington/Stow. By 1841 they had moved to Okehampton, where Richard eventually retired and died. He was described as a 'Drainer' or 'Land Drainer' in later censuses. Richard's parents may have been William and Mary James of Donnington. Any further information would be welcomed.

They had four children, all baptised at Down Ampney: Sarah or Louisa Page (6.6.1790); Thomas Page (21.5.1795); John Page (20.11.1797); & Frances Page (29.9.1800). Sarah/Louisa Page had a base child, Thomas Thorn Page baptised in Down Ampney on 17.3.1822. She died in Ireland on 12.11.1860. Thomas Page died 4.3.1818 & is buried in Ealing Churchyard, Middlesex. John Page married Mary Ann Fisher (baptised in Hatherop, Gloucestershire on 25.6.1809) in Quenington on 24.1.1828. John died 7.9.1869 at Cirencester & was buried 11.9.1869 in Down Ampney. Mary Ann Page (nee Fisher) died on 10.2.1904 in Wimbledon. They had eleven children: Mary Ann Page; Maria Page; Elizabeth Page (12.2.1832); Richard Page (17.10.1833); Frances Page (1835); Mary Laura Page (1839); Eliza Beth Page (1842); Richard Thomas Page (1844); Emma Page (1846); William Page (1851); & John George Page 1854). Frances Page(b.1800) married George Dowden & she died on 21.6.1861. I am descended from John Page and Mary Ann Fisher through their 4th child, Richard Page, who married Esther Brown on 4.5.1858 in Cheltenham. Devereux was my g-grandfather and he later movedto Cardiff. By 1871, Isaac, Celia, Devereux & Alvin had left home and by 1881, only Orlando remained at home, by which time they had moved to Bagendon.
