I am looking for information regarding my great-grandfather Charles John Brown who was born in Wickwar and who ended up as abutcher in Lydney. He married Clara Harris from Lydney, whose family came from Woolaston.
Webley family in Wickwar
I have been researching the Webley family in Devizes & Trowbridge, Wilts and also Bromsgrove, Worcs. Thanks to someone else's research, I have recently discovered that as far back as my 7 x Gt Grandfather, Richard Webley (1687) the family were living in Wickwar, Gloucestershire. Richard was married to Edith White from Chipping Sodbury. There were several generations further back in Wickwar - Alexander Webley (1656) John Webley (1588) John Webley (1560) abd John Webley (1548) Although I have their basic dates I would love to know more about Wickwar in the 16th & 17th century and whether there are any burial records etc for this family.

I am researching the Richards family - James & Ann - who lived in Wickwar about 1861 into 1890's. I believe James died about 1892. Children George, William,Alfred,John & Mary/Elizabeth. Census states both born in Wickwar but James possib not. Ann was born there I believe but do not have her maiden name. She moved to Glos by 1901 . Have traced George to Charfield, William to Gloucester but would like to know more about James and Ann . Any possible links/ info ?

Seeking information about John P.S. DAVIS and his wife Alice A. DAVIS, who appear on the 1901 census at Drew's Cottage, West End, Wickwar. He was a tailor, and I think they had recently moved from Kingwood, Bristol. By 1905, John had moved away, alone. What happened to Alice? I am hoping local oral reminiscences might help, as I fear there may have been something scandalous, or at least gossip-worthy!
