Can anyone help with the origins of the name of the hamlet of Wallbridge in the Stroud area? It has a Bell Inn and Wallbridge House,Mill and Canal. It would have been a family name but I found no baptisms for the name in the 18c Rodborough PRs.

My grandfather Edward William was born at Tabernacle Walk, Rodborough, Stroud in 1868. His father was Charles born 1846-48, mother was Louisa Savage (nee Beard) - Charles is believed to be 1 of 10 children and I understand that some of his siblings emigrated to Canada and Australia. Edward emigrated to New Zealand in 1874 with parents Charles & Louisa and his sisters Clara and Lillian - am trying to trace any other family members - can anyone help?

I am trying to find details of my gggg grandfather,Thomas Walkley and Ann (nee Cratchley). They married 24/12/1798 Rodborough. Thomas died 24/03/1847 Rodborough, Ann died 20/11/1861 Rodborough. They had Sarah Walkley C.21/07/1799,Rodborough, Samuel Walkley C.04/12/1803 Rodborough (my ggg grandfather), Maria Walkley C.02/03/1806 Rodbrough, and Ann Walkley C.29/04/1808 Rodborough. I do not know any other details of Thomas and Ann's daughters. only that in the Rodborough 1851 census, Ann Walkley 73 is a widow and there is an Ann 45 (no surname) as a cloth worker . Any assistance with information greatly appreciated.

My gt grandfather HENRY ALLEN born 1866 RODBOROUGH and gt grandmother MAZILLIA ALLEN nee LOVERIDGE born 1865 HAMPSHIRE were ROMANY travellers. They eventualy settled in RODBOROUGH and were there in 1918 at TABERNACLE WALK.Children were, HERBERT ERNEST b 1889 my grandfather ANDREW b 1890 GEORGE EDWARD b 1899 killed in battle 1818 IVY b ? married HAROLD COCKLE of STROUD. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with any information about this family.

In 1870, Charles Herbert of Stroud Hill, son of George, married Elizabeth Hall of Rodborough, daughter of John, at Rodborough parish church. Witnessed by Alfred Hobbs & Annie Hall. This appears to be the Hall family living at Bag Path, Rodboroughin 1881. (John 68,Ellen 57, Annie 33, Ellen 23, Fanny 18) Any connections sought. I have lots of info to share on Herbert family, little so far on Hall.
