red mail Margaret Jones b1858
My great grandma Margaret Jones was born in Ystalyfera and in 1881 census was living in Graig y Merched , her parents were William and Mary Jones . At the time most occupations in the family was at the tinworks . When Margaret married Daniel Lewis who was a collier they lived in Brick Row in the 1901 census before moving to Canal Terrace and that is where next door their daughter Margaret met and married my grandad Thomas John Thomas who sadly was killed aged 30 in Tareni pit leaving my grandmother a widow with four children one being my dad. We lived in Canal Terrace during the early fifties before moving to Pontardawe. I am researching my family tree not easy with Jones Thomas Lewis and Rees in the combination . If there is anyone who knows information about my family it would be great as I am now trying to establish church and buriels before I visit later this year.
red mail John Williams
I am researching the family of John and Ann Williams who apparently belonged to a well known Ystalyfera family. John was born in 1803 in Breconshire, Ann in 1809 in Cilybebyll , Glamorgan. John and Ann (nee Morgan) were married in October 1828 in Cilybebyll P.C. . Their children and birth years were : Jane(1829), Mary(1830), William(1832), Lewis(1833), Hannah(1835), Richard(1837), Ann(1839), John(1841), Elizabeth(1843) , David(1846) and Benjamin(1849). I am unable to find any information about Mary , William , Richard , Ann , John and David. Can anybody help ?
red mail Watkin Williams / William Williams / Margaret Morgan / Minerva Williams
My family came from Ystalyfera and I am trying to work out the family tree. I am a direct descendant of Watkin Williams (born about 1842 in Ystalyfera, and died in Melbourne Australia in 1909). I understand that (a) he was the second son of William Williams; (b) he was born in approx 1842 in Ystalyfera; (c) Watkin was the second son - I believe the first son was William Williams b 1839. WW married twice (Margaret Morgan with children John / Watkin / Edwern / Lucy) and Minerva (with children Abraham b 1872 and Eveline b 1879); (c) Abraham's daughter was Hettie and Hettie's son was Edwin Stuart Gomar Evans (the poet Stuart Evans); (d) they lived in two houses at opposite ends of Ystalyfera - The Poplars, and Woodlands - double storey with a cast iron fence; (e) they had an interest in a mine (which was wound up in the 80s). I would be grateful if you had any ideas as to relatives / living relatives of the family, family history, etc.
