red mail Stone and Rowe families
My father Francis George Stone was born at 3 Pleasant Street Pentre in 1905. He was the son of John Stone and Mary Rowe whose families originated from the St Just in Penwith area of Cornwall. I believe my father left Wales around 1929 when his mother died and as far as I can tell had no further contact with his family. He rarely spoke of his family or his childhood. John & Mary Stone appear on the electoral roll at 75 Gelli Road from 1918 to 1929 along with my father (1927-1929). I would love to find out if there were more children (i.e. my uncles or aunts) and what happpened to the family. If any of this rings a bell please get in touch John
red mail John Morgan Lewis
John Morgan Lewis was b. 25 Dec., 1817 in Pentr Estril. Know nothing of parentage or siblings. Family history says he was 'asked' to leave Wales for poaching.
MILLINER of Pentre, Glamorgan
I am researching the family of Robert MILLINER who, in 1918, lived at 20 Albert Street, Pentre. He worked as a haulier in a coalmine. At a guess he was born between 1885 and 1895 possibly in south Gloucestershire. His wife was Alice Emily Robinsonand they had probably at least 3 children, although that is not certain. Mervyn Lionel was born 1918, Phyllis and George may have been older. Any information on this elusive family would be most welcome.
