Parents George Williams b. 1826 a coal miner from Bristol & Charlotte Williams b.1829 in Bristol. Later family became builders in St. George, Bristol. Several marriages with Lewis family. red mail Holloway family of Penydarren Road.
I am researching the Holloway family of Penydarren Road, my great great grandparents being William and Elizabeth who uprooted from the West Country to Wales between 1868 and 1871. My great grandmother Florence Holloway married a Lancashire man named Arthur Roberts in Penydarren Church and subsequently moved to Padiham in that county. As Florence had 2 brothers, William(?) and Thomas, I'm wondering if anyone has any info as to how they and my great great grandparents fared.
red mail Gwyn Hughes
I am looking for Gwyn Hughes. His Mother Maggie and his Father Cecil Hughes, lived in Glamorgan all their lives. Brother was Gordon. I last saw Gwyn in London, when I was a child. This must have been in 1960 odd. Now he is the missing link in my family tree. Cecil's sister would have been my Grandmother but was killed in the war. Cecil would have been my Great Uncle, so Gwyn must be a cousin or second cousin to me.
Thomas Thomas
Looking for a birth of a Thomas Thomas circa 1841 in Merthyr Tydfil. (Age given as 21 years on 25 December 1862 when he married Emma Waters at the Parish Church). His fathers's name was given as William Thomas. Both Thomas and William were carpenters (Thomas certainly in the iron works). Thomas and Emma gave their address as Plymouth Street, Merthyr at the time of the marriage. Thomas and Emma lived in Blaenavon and Beaufort before returning to Troedyrhiw, her former home, shortly before her death in 1869. They had two children Rhoda Ann and William. After Emma's death Thomas "disappears", the children being raised by Emma's sisters. The only other information we have is that Thomas's occupation had changed by the time of his daughter Rhoda's wedding in April 1888 now being "mechanic". He appears to have been alive still at this point. Any help with a birth/baptism or whereabouts post 1869 gratefully received.

John Jenkins b1843
My 2nd Great grandfather John Jenkins was born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1843. His father´s name was Thomas, I don´t know his mother´s name or her dates. On 15th May 1865 John married Jemima Morgans (b1844) at the Register Office in Merthyr. Thomas is shown on the marriage certificate as deceased, but had been a haulier. John himself was a Puddler at the Iron Works. In 1871 John, Jemima and their first child Edmund (my Great Grandfather b1869) lived at 10 Shellar´s Houses in Merthyr and by 1881 the family had grown to three children (John b1875 and Sarah b1877) and they were living at 92 Tramroad Side East, Merthyr. I cannot trace John anywhere on the 1851,1861 or post-1881 census returns, and have no information about Thomas other than that which appears on his son´s marriage cert. I believe Jemima may have died in 1881 (after the census date) but there is no sign of John Jr or Sarah either after this time. Does anyone have links to this family, or can help me fill any of the gaps in my tree, please? Gareth

I also have a birth certificate for a Margaret Michael born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1842. However, the father's name is listed as John Michael. There appear to be a number of Margaret Michael's in Merthyr so I don't know if the certificates are for the same person. Any information would be welcome.

red mail LEWIS, MORGAN, REES of Merthyr Tydfil
I am descended from Thomas A. Morgan, born 1 Jan 1830 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan. He was the son of Edmund Lewis and Charlotte Morgan. Unfortunately, I do not have dates for Edmund or Charlotte, but both were born in the area also. According to the 1870 census, Thomas came to America from Wales in 1832. There has been reference in family history that his parents may have been innkeepers. Once in America, Edmund and Charlotte gave birth to Thomas' brother, William, in 1840 in Pennsylvania, USA. I am trying to find any information that I can on Thomas' parents or siblings. There may have been more born in Wales prior to emmigration to the US. It's been said that Edmund & Charlotte both died shortly after William's birth, and Thomas & William were sent to be raised by their aunts, one a Lewis that married a Bynon originally of Wales, and the other another Lewis that married a Rees(e) that was also born in Wales. All came to he US and settled in the Pittsburgh PA area as well as the Washington State, US area.

I am researching Martin Luther JONES (b 1851, Charters Towers, Australia; teacher; m - 1/1/1913 to Laura SUMMERHAYES (child of John SUMMERHAYES and Kate FAIRBROTHER) Cooktown; d 6/6/63 - Brisbane, Australia). His father was John Jordan JONES (Birth, Death, Emigration, Profession and Marriage Unknown) and was married to Elizabeth Ann FOSTER - an opera singer (Birth, Death, Emigration and Marriage Unknown). Elizabeth is related in some way to Ivor Foster a well known welsh singer. Elizabeth and John had 3 sons - Martin Luther, Jack Cobden JONES and Burdikin Lutha (whi died as an infant) and one daughter Tydvil. The last confirmed information I have is on Martin Luther JONES. I am looking for any information on his parents (John Jordan JONES and Elizabeth FOSTER) who at some stage must have emigrated to Australia but I do not know details. I know that Martin returned to Merthyr Tydfil as a babe in arms where he lived until he returned to Australia at age 8 so I am guessing he was returning with at least his mother to family there. Any suggestions how I can continue would be welcomed. Thank you.
