red mail Theophilus Scourfield
Looking for information on Theophilus Scourfield born 1823 in Tenby, married @ St. Cynwyds Church Llangynwyd in 1849 to Ann Stephens. I believe he died in 1886 Bridgend and would like to know if he is buried @ St. Cynwyds? Thanks for any help.
red mail EDWARDS of Maesteg
Looking for the Edwards family who lived on Rock Street in 1895 and Best Street in 1901. Myfanwy Edwards born 1895 and her older sister Edith (cant find birth) lived with parents John and Elizabeth Edwards nee Vaughan. My interest is Edith, who married Percy Price in 1912 and had 4 daughters. Edith died from TB, along with the new baby, and two of the daughters ELIZABETH/BESSIE born 1914 and GWLADYS born 1916 went to live with Edith's family. One more daughter, Megan born 1917, was possibly but not definitely adopted. I can find no trace of any of these girls although it was rumoured 'the whole family' moved to London, where Bessie became an interior designer and Gwladys worked in a care home. (For the record, Edith's husband Percy then cohabited with a Romany gypsy lady named Gentila and had 3 more children.) Sorry for the long post, but I've never found anyone researching this family.
JOSEPH/LLEWELLYN chip shops Maesteg
In 1911 my great great uncle Ioan (John) Joseph (1872-1925) lived in 33 West Street and was described as a chipped potato dealer. His sister Elizabeth Ann Joseph (1868-1935) married David John Llewellyn (1865-1917). In 1911 they lived at 15 West Street and he was described as a fish frier. My mother remembered visiting Aunty Nanny at her chip shop as a small girl, probably in the late 1920s. I've looked in trade directories but can't find any descriptions of these food outlets. Does anybody have any info, memories etc. please? I'm fairly OK with family history, but I always welcome any more background details, particularly about Ioan Emlyn Joseph, a miner who saw service in the Dardanelles and the Far East and was killed in a mining accident in Llanelly in 1926. Thanks

red mail Mary Thomas thomas and William James Thomas
I am searching for information on my great grandparents who left Maesteg for the US between 1879-1881. Their names were William James Thomas and Mary Thomas Thomas. They gave most of their children the middle name Beynon, but I have not found the family connection to that name. Mary had other siblings including one named Henry who also emigrated to the US. There was at least one other sibling named Elizabeth who married John Powell. And possibly a fourth sibling named Thomas. I am interested in determining the names of their parents.

John TUDOR - Licenced Victualler
Looking for information on, and descendants of, John TEWDOR, later TUDOR, who was baptised at Roch in Pembrokeshire on 18th November 1838. In the 1861 census he appears to be listed as a police officer lodging at 45 Grove Street, Llangynwyd Higher in Margam. He probably married a Sarah HUTCHINSON, born in Maesteg c1836, in the Bridgend registration district in the Dec 1875 quarter and produced at least 2 children: Walwyn F TUDOR (1878) and Irene Jane TUDOR (1880). In 1881 and 1891 he appears as a Licenced Victualler at 75 Commercial St, Cwmdu. I believe John died in the December 1891 quarter aged 53, and in 1901 his widow Sarah is listed in the census as a Temperance Hotel Keeper, at which time Walwyn was still living at home. Sarah probably died in the Mar 1910 quarter at the age of 73. Does anyone recognise any of the above, please?

red mail Harrington
I have traced my family back to the mid 1700's. I know that my family originally came from County Cork, Ireland. Most of the family I have traced seem to be from Suffolk, but I know that my grandfather, Robert Geoffrey BEDBOROUGH HARRINGTON (1917-1995) was born in Maesteg. His mother was May WHITTINGHAM and father Robert HARRINGTON (1874-1949). If anyone has any information, please let me know.
red mail Thomas
My mother, Gladys Mae Thomas, was adopted by Elizabeth and George Thomas. She was born BEATRICE DOMINGEZ in Swansea on February 1, 1910. She tells me that she was "given to" Liz and George as an infant. Her maternal grandmother gave her tothis couple because she was (reportedly)the illegitimate child of Mary Coleman and Peter Domingez (a West Indian Merchant Fireman). Gladys was raised in Maesteg where her father George was a coalminer. She turned out to be the oldest of five children (four of which were subsequently, born to Liz and George). The other children were Doris, Richard (Richie), Edie and George. George was killed in WWII in an explosion at the age of 19. I was named after this brother. I want to find out more about this family line, which I hope will lead me to more information on my biological grandparents in Swansea. Any information you may have will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.
