My grandmother Hannah GOOD (b.1877 in Coolflugh, Cork, Ireland) first married a Michael WALSH and had three children including my father. red mail Lucy Harris/Henry clifford
I am looking for any information about Lucy Harris who must have arrived in Cardiff somewhere between 1882 and when she married Henry Clifford there in 1890. She was born in Buckinghamshire and in 1881 had been in domestic service, aged 15. So I assume she went to Cardiff for the same reasons and would love to know where she might have been. Her husband was from Wiltshire and on the 1891 census he was a painters labourer presumably attracted by industrial growth. At that time they were living in Roath. Any insight gratefully received.

red mail O'Mara in Cardiff
My 2nd great grandfather Michael O'Mara married Catherine Sullivan in St. David's Roman Catholic Church in Cardiff on December 6, 1856. I believe James was born in Ireland around 1830, Catherine was also born in Ireland in 1835. The marriage license says they lived at 3 Whitemore Lane in Cardiff. They had a son James who I believe died in childhood. James was born in 1857. Would anyone have any idea where he might be buried? I'm trying to track the family back to Ireland. Michael's father was also named James but he was deceased by the time of the wedding in 1856. Michael and Catherine had two other children in Wales, Mary, born in 1858, and John in 1860. Another child, David, was born in America. I cannot find evidence that Mary was born in Wales. U.S. census for 1870, 1900, 1910 say she was born in Wales but I cannot find verification from a Welsh document. I am descended from John. Sometime between 1860 and 1870 the family moved to Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. I believe Michael O'Mara is in the 1861 Wales census living in Merthyr Tydfill, here the name is misspelled as Marrah. I would like to learn as much as possible about the Irish in Cardiff. Any help appreciated. Thank you - Joe

red mail Alexander Davey
Alex Davey Now deceased. DOB 1905 Cardiff. Alex was an organist and came to York and worked at the old Picture House in Coney Street (approx 1925-1930) He met York born Jessie Downey. DOB 1904.They married in Kent in 1930 and they had two daughters (one of whom is my Mother who was born in Islington in 1935) The rest is rather vague as Jessie went to Canada and my Mother was brought up in a Children`s home in Hornchurch, Essex, believing herself to be an orphan. She met her Mother Jessie a couple of times in the 1970`s but she wasn`t given any information from her and she found out Alex had tried to contact her through a relative but that information was not given to her until many years too late (sadly). We think Alex returned to Wales at some time but we know nothing about his life, any information about him or any relatives is welcome. He was an accomplished organist, so he may have played at your church or chapel.

red mail Seeking Relations through Possible Relatives Cardiff Area (See Davies below)
I descended from John W. Jones (b.1854) who immigrated to the United States and settled in the State of Oklahoma. John married Jane Edwards in Carmarthenshire, Wales about 1876. They had six children, five of which were born in Treorchy. Gwilyme (born 1877); Samuel (born 1878), Anni (born 1871), Sarah (born 1887) and Minion (born 1891). John and his family departed from Liverpool in late 1891 enroute to Oklahoma, where the sixth and last daughter (Margaret) was born in 1898. Addresses in Treorchy appeared (according to the Census of Wales)were 6 School St in 1881 and 1 New Chapel St in 1891. John was living in Bridell, Pembrokeshire as a single man in the 1861 and the 1871 Census of Wales. John's siblings were William (born 1841), Elizabeth (born 1843) and Margaret (born 1848). Little is known of their families, other than William may have had a daughter, Mary Ann ____ believed to died in 1942/1943 Pembrokeshire. John was a mason by trade. Jane Edwards (born 1855), John Jone's wife, was born in St Clear/Clair/Clare, Carmarthenshire. Her parents were John Edwards (born March 1832)and Anni Lewis (born May 1831). Jane's siblings were Samuel L. Edwards, John Edwards Jr., and a Sarah,a Margaret and a Miriam Edwards who all three may have deceased before 1900. John Edwards Sr. was a coal miner and lived in Glamorgan County, Pontypridd/ Gelligaer. Most of this family went to Oklahoma in the 1880's. ("A RELATION FROM WALES THAT CORRESPONED IN DECEMBER 1943 WITH SAMUEL JONES WAS A MARGARET(MAGGIE) DAVIES ON ALBANY ROAD, CARDIFF. SHE INDICATED THAT HER HUSBAND HAD BEEN IN CHARGE OF ONE OF THE LARGEST SCHOOLS THAT HAD BEEN BOMBED TO THE GROUND TWO YHEARS BEFORE THE WRITING OF THAT LETTER. SHE WAS SIXTY AT THAT TIME. SHE HAD TWO SONS. ONE WAS 31 YEARS OLD WHO HAD BEEN DISCHARGED FROM A TANK REGIMENT AND WAS AT THAT TIME WORKING AT A BANK. THE OLDER BROTHER WAS 34 YEARS OLD AND WAS AT WHITEHALL. IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT MAGGIE WAS FORMERLY A REES. ") I am sure this is more than most wanted to read however I am very interested in discovering any descendants in Wales and hopefully meeting them this fall. (Note: Most of the years of birth expressed based on ages during the Census' of Wales and correspondence) Anyone that can help I thank you.
