Thomas Mitchell(born abt1823)(the US 1930 census for his son's household says he was born in northern Ireland)and Maria "Mary" Leonard (born abt1837) were married about 1860. Thomas's parents were probably Darby Mitchell and Mary ?. Maria's Dad was John Leonard, son of Paul Leonard. Maria Leonard Mitchell was a widow in 1911 with 7 living children of 8 born. I only know of James Joseph who came to the US, Bridget with the family in 1901 and Thomas with the widow in 1911 in Lissyegan. Family "story" states there was an Elizabeth who came to the US and my research supports a Darby who came to the US to Philadelphia. Looking for any additional information on the family and will share all that I have.

William Killelay b.1809 married Margaret Long b. 1821, both of Clarinbridge, Co. Galway. Left Ireland with their children c.1851 and settled in Bole, Nottinghamshire. Large number of their descendants in Gainsborough area of Lincolnshire and Manchester, Lancashire. Margaret Long had widowed sister Bridget Walsh (nee Long) b.1825, who also settled in Bole. Spelling of surname varies and is often mis spelt on official documents, but those who spell surname as 'Killelay' all seem to be descendants of this couple. I have an extensive family tree for English members of the Killelay family, but would like to know more about William's antecedents in Ireland.

We have finally found our great great grandmother Mary Dooley b c1826 as an orphan in the Mt Bellew Workhouse 1852. She was said to be the daughter of an Edward Dooley, occupation Whitesmith from Clonbrock. Mary was sent to Australia late 1852 as an asssisted immigrant. It is likely that Mary was transferred from the Ballinasloe Workhouse prior to 1852. Father Edward's brother was Lawrence Dooley b c1796 married Margaret Larkin, children Patrick, Bridget (married Michael Gavin), Martin, Mary, Thomas, Lawrence, Catherine and William Riley. Would love to hear if anyone has any connections or can pass on any contact details of any Dooley's currently residing from this area.

Michael Sullivan - (Esker - County Galway)
I am interested in Michael Sullivan, whom the Griffiths Valuation (1857) shows as lessee of land in Esker (parish of Clonfert, barony of Longford, modern Catholic parish Laurencetown and Kiltormer: the plot lies on the south side of the R356, set back a bit as the road has moved, about one mile from the Banagher bridge). The plot is small, and he may have worked in the town of Banagher. His landlord was James C Harter of Manchester; his neighbours were Eliza Hart, Joseph Troad, Michael Curran, John Fechilly and James Dolan. He was I believe married to Anne Brennan, and father of Margaret baptised on 27 Oct. 1835 and Timothy born on 13 June 1847. If you have any knowledge of any of these people, please get in touch.

Eliza died in Gort aged 20. Richard Kelly (1822-1887) married Isabella Eliza Vallancey in 1852, and they emigrated to Sydney. Charles (b.c. 1819) married Anne McEvoy of King's county. Richard died in Seaforth, county Galway. His mother, Margaret England, daughter of Patrick Richard England, was born in Lifford, Ennis, co. Clare. All relevant information welcome.

Searching for information about the family of Dennis Blessington who was born in ireland in about 1816. His wife was Catherine Colger. Their first son, John Blessington, was born in Leitrim, Galway in 1835. The family moved to Bradford, Lancashire before the 1861 UK Census.

Thomas Donoghue (also spelt Donohue) was born around 1873 in or near Lisheen. He was a farmer in Lisheen in 1911 (Census) and also in 1912 when he married Julia Creed (from Cork but working at Caltra Post Office/ General Store)in the Catholic Church in Ahascragh. He and Julia emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1913. Thomas's father was John Donoghue, also a farmer. Likewise he had a brother John who was a farmer. It is thought that Thomas's mother was a Sarah Curley. Any information about Thomas or his family would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to share what other information that I have. Regards Mary.

I'm looking for information on my gfather Martin Conway. I believe he came from Lisheenavalla, Galway, and came to america in 1906 ) around 21 years of age. I am trying to find his Irish ancestory mostly, Father is John, Mother is Mary Finn Brothers: Michael, Thomas and Hubert; and a sister Norah. Perhaps older sister and brothers not shown in census? It seems Martin came to usa with a neighbor named Patrick Fahy who went to Aspen Colorado. Martin Conway came to California (as per the ships documents) to Red Bluff, California, to visit his Aunt, Mrs. Phillip R Kestner (Julia Conway Kestner). Martin was baptised in Lackagh, Ireland.

Looking for any reference to Matilda McCole However all my searches for Matilda ended up with a dead end. Do you know if she went by a different name? I can't even find her and John on the 1841 census in Argyll. Also do you have a Flora born about 1797 and a Sarah Ann (not sure of date) in your tree? A family researcher CLAIMS these to be sisters of Matilda - apparently they married into the Livingstone family of Lismore.

They were married in Moyleen and later moved to Australia. He had many siblings, and his sister Brigid Grogan supposedly married a John Carr and moved to the US becoming actors in the silent pictures. Australian family members have been trying to trace her descendants.

Looking for information on the parents/family of James Fahey who was born in Galway, most likely Loughrea, in 1827. He immigrated around 1846, and eventually made his was to Illinois. He married Ellen Foley in 1857 in Tazwell County, Illinois. They lived for a while in the Chicago area and then moved to Holton, Kansas. Children born were: James, Patrick, Nell, Kate, Elizabeth, Johanna, Mary and Nora. James Fahey died in Holton, KS in 1939.
