In August 1814, Anne Nowell (nee West) came into possession of her late mother's property in Woodham Walter. In September 1814, her only son, Lieut. red mail Goodwin Family
I'm researching at least 2, possibly 3 generations of the Goodwin family, resident in Woodham Walter from 1806 and earlier. John Goodwin was born 1806, his mother was Sarah, and a widow by the time of the 1861 Census. My great Grandfather was his son Edward who had 2 sisters and a brother. Edward married a Caroline White, also born in WW, and they then moved to Chelmsford. All the men were either agricultural labourers or gardeners.
