If anyone else is researching the SAYER family from Witham, Essex I would be very glad to get in touch. In particular descendants of Edward SAYER and Eliza SHELDRICK who were married in Witham in 1829. Other names Im interested in are Samuel SAYER, Elizabeth WEBB, Lydia SANSOM from Witham, Isaac SHELDRICK from Inworth and Sarah BOYTON or BOYNTON of Great Braxted. Other members of the SAYER family relocated to Greenwich in the mid 1800s.

Susannah was born at Terling, Essex in 1795 so I would guess John originated in that area. Does anyone know of the wright family. Sampson was born in 1776, alledgedly he was a Blacksmith probably at chipping hill. He moved to Maldon, also as a blacksmith, and spawned a whole load of Sampsons, passed through the generations into the early 1900s. He may have married twice, his former being rachael. If anyone has info it would stop me going insane. There is also a perry in the family, Len perry, who married Gussie (alice aka moll. )Wright. Len died in the war (2) had 3 children rex,trevor and mavis petal.

I am trying to find marriage of William Raven & Maria Horsnell (possible spelling variation) c1840. They appear at Plumstead on 1861 census showing William (age 39) was born in Witham, and Maria (age 37) was born in Faulkbourne. They had 6 children in 1861, eldest being George, age 18, born in Witham. Youngest was Emma Sophia Raven, her birth certificate (24 Jan 1858)gives parents as William Raven and Maria Raven (formerly Horsnell). I can find no record of William and Maria prior to the 1861 census. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I am looking for information of William Ager (now Agar in Australia. He is the 8th child of Edward Ager (1787 - 1854) and Mary Harris. Others are Mary Ann (1807-08), Rebecca 1809-1889, Edward 1812-1854, Mary Ann 1818-, Elizabeth 1816 , Sarah (1818 -, Susan 1820. He married Mary Ann Sansom and had 2 children Mary Ann Sansom Agar and William Edward Agar. The family came to Australia on the 'Java' in 1852-53. I have all info since then but would like any info regarding Mary Ann Sansom and earlier Agars.

I am looking for the family of my ggrandfather, John Brown, who was born in Witham, Essex, 1853. His father may have been James. He may have had a brother James. They may have had an aunt, Mary Brown? or maybe Mary Pennington? Somewhere along the line, they had an Aunt Mary who took the brothers in when they were left orphans. the aunt married a Phillips. My great grandfather I believe, was a carpenter, and then a crate manufacturer in London.

seeking information on the Phillips family, furniture dealers of Church Street Whitham (1881-1917?). Walter, Francis, John, Willliam and Alfred (killed in action WW1 - 1917)all went to New York but returned on occasions. Phoebe and Agnus i have found on the 1901 census in London. Their father, Walter, died in 1909. Alfred owned the family shop until 1917 when he died. What became of the family, any information will be gratefully received.

On the theory that my earlier message without a heading got lost completely, I re-post the following: My husband is descended from Samuel Perry (1796) and Elizabeth Warner (1798), who had 5 children born in Witham, Essex: William (1824), Joseph (1827), Samuel (1829-1881), JANE (6 Nov 1832) and Phoebe (1835). On the baptismal register, Samuel Sr. is listed as a labourer, but he could have been upwardly mobile. Samuel Jr. was a baker who later bought a public house in Woodford, Essex. I have alot of information on the Perrys going back to the late 1500s which I would be delighted to share.

My ancestor JANE PERRY was according to family information born in Little Witham, Essex. She married John Winsborrow as a minor in 1853 in Surrey. Jane's father was Samuel Perry a brewer. Any information welcome.
