Missing Marriages!
checking the Parish registers at the Essex Record Office has led me to some Marriages in Wethersfield parish that do not appear in the GRO Marriage index! When the chuch of St Mary the Virgin was opened at Blackmore End in 1867 it appears a page was removed from the Wethersfield Parish Register and used to record a couple of marriages prior to the church's own register being opened in July 1868. For some reason these Marriages do not appear in the GRO Index .... The marriages are as follows --- 18 October 1867 . John Hurry - full - Wid - Laborer - Wethersfield - John Hurry - Labourer . Elizabeth Fitch - full - Wid - BLANK - Wethersfield - John Freeman - Labourer . Witnesses Rose Cornell and William (Fitch or French) . 25 December 1867 . Charles Rumsey - 20 - Bach - Labourer - Wethersfield - William Rumsey - Labourer . Ellen Warren - 17 - Spin - BLANK - Gosfield - John Warren - Labourer . Witnesses William Smith and Mary Rush . I hope that helps someone! Pete

William Dee born Wethersfield circa 1818 married Mary Everitt born circa 1824 also of Wethersfied in the 1st quarter of 1849. To my knowledge they only had one son Isaac born 2nd quarter 1850. Both William and Isaac died 1st quarter 1852. Mary then Married John Dee b. Sible Hedingham circa 1835 only a few months after her husband and son died in the 3rd quarter 1852. WILLIAM SMITH
Does anyone have Jane Halls in their research. It is looking increasingly likely this is the girl William Smith married in Halstead 1864. The additional evidence being William Ives (transcribed Iven on freeBMD) his mother's maiden name. Awaiting the certificate with bated breath I have found Jane Halls in 1851 and 1861. If you connect I would love to hear from you
SMITH
Trying to find the wife of William Smith born 1843, Lt. Yeldham. In 1871 he is in Shalford with Sarah born about 1848 in Wethersfield and by 1881 he is in Cressing Road, Braintree with Jane, also from Wethersfield. From the age and place of birth I believe this to be the same person. Jane died in 1882 in Black Notley. I have never managed to find a marriage for William to Sarah/Jane. Any help would be appreciated.
