red mail Landermere,Essex,England
References to Landermere are difficult to find. However the Essex County Map of 1880-1881 does show Landermere Wharf and the Kings Head P.H. Grid Ref. 619879,223982. Landermere can be found by road by taking the Landermere Road from Thorpe le Soken for a mile or so, then taking a right turn signposted Landermere. This takes you to a Hamlet (not signed) that is presumably Landermere. Just through the Hamlet before a sharp right bend there is a track off to the left through farm buildings (marked Private no access - hmmmm !!) I am told this is the access to the old cottages that remain of Landermere's waterside heritage.(Editor: his member has also contributed some fascinating information on the village which has been moved to the village history section, see above)
