Frederick Lambert Parker
I am hoping to find information on one of my grandfather's siblings, the youngest - Frederick Lambert Parker born in Portsmouth in 1905. His parents were Albert Edward Parker (born Packer) and Mary Rachel Young and the only information I have been able to find on him is that he died, on 3rd September 1984 at Heath Hospital, Tendring, Essex - retired painter and decorator. The death was informed by his step-daughter, Eleanor Byham (presumably married name), and who I have also been unable to trace.
red mail Burial of Joseph Crosby
I am a descendent of Joseph & Sarah Crosby (nee Kemp) who had 5 children baptised in Lion Walk Meeting Jouse Independent in Colchester between 1770 & 1777. Sarah was buried in Tendring, Essex on 20/12/1821 aged 84 years. There are two burials for a Joseph Crosby in Tendring, but I yet to determine which is the husband of Sarah. The first was buried on 15/9/1794 and the record states 'former clerk of this parish'. This gentleman witnessed approximately 21 marriages at St Edmund King & Martyr Church in Tendring between 1783 and 1793. The other Joseph Crosby was buriedon 11/1/1810, and the entry states he was from Great Oakley. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
red mail Pooley Slaughter Bates
trying to find... Audrey Ann Slaughter,my greatgrandmother, who met my greatgrandad Frederick Pooley in Tendring;Peldon Essex. Audrey Ann had already been married in Norfolk to a John Bates in 1897(8...they had children I know this. Audrey then had 2 children to Frederick Pooley who lived in Tendring Essex at the birth of my grandad Maurice Pooley Bates in 1912...then Lilian Slaughter Pooley Bates in 1914. Audrey Ann Slaughter was born in Greatryburgh in 1874/5 she married John Bates in Smallburgh in 1897...Frederick then appears on the scene, he was born in 1886 Peldon Essex,he served in WW1...royal engineers, he was in France I am told and survived the war. The family then moved to Newark, Maurice, Lilian and I believe some children from her marriage to John Bates, although I can't seem to place them all together. My problems stem from the double barrel surname we hav,e inherited although I am quite certain we should not have been christened with the Bates surname, but with Pooley. I am told Frederick never married Audrey Ann...I do not know if Audrey and John Bates divorced...or if John Bates died ...if this is the case there should be more children with seems to me for some reason that we became Bates after John Bates and not Pooley after our true blood line...why? all our most of the family have Pooley Bates as their surname until 1961 when I was born and the Pooley name vanished...the rest of the family are now just Bates...HELP I can.t sort this mess wonder I'm confused.. I dont know what I should be lol
