Selwyn Charles Lewis - Metropolitan policeman
Selwyn was born in 1865 in Eastnor and became a policeman in Stepney division, dying in 1901. He married Minnie Beechens or Beecheno in 1895 in Streatham. (Her sister married one of Selwyn's brothers who was also in the Met.) Minnie and their son may have moved to the area around Folkestone after Selwyn's death. Any information on Selwyn and his family would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any info on a pub at 7 Plaistow Grove. Not sure what it was called 1881-91 but our ancestors Alfred Johnson (married to Matilda Trott) and Annie Finch (nee Trott) appear to have been Beerhouse Keepers here during this time. A brother of Annie's also lived here called George Trott when they were both widowed. Would love any pictures of this time if available.

I am seeking descendants of Richard Charles Wardle, 3rd son of William Wardle and Mary Ann (surname unk) and Richard's wife Emma L Mayhew. Richard was born in Bermondsey. His mother died when he was a child. He became an apprentice shipsmith, a blacksmith and later a railway labourer. His brothers became mariners and each eventually settled in Australia, while Richard married in 1866 and settled in Stratford, West Ham. I ahve them in censuses there from 1871 to 1901. They had 7 children: Jennette, Richard, Arthur, Jessica, Albert, Ada and Louisa. I have possible marriages for 5 of them. Richard's wife Emma died about 1897. Richard married again, possibly to Louisa Wackett (nee ?). The census record is hard to read. I'd love the opportunity to share information about Australian descendants of Thomas and Henry Wardle and find out about cousins descended from Richard Wardle and Emma L Mayhew. Jenni in Australia

I am looking for details on a William and Charlotte Shale (Smith)and Simeon and Mary Shale(Johns). They are recorded as moving to New Zealand as part of the "Fencibles" in 1849 on the ship "Berhampore". I believe they both had children, but not sure of names. Simeon may have had a Simeon and William and there's a Mary Jane listed as a passenger as well. I am hoping one of these Williams is the ancestor I have been trying to track. He married Ann Merrett in Sydney in 1854. Anyone have any details that could help.

Family finally lived in Dorking, Surrey where Charles died in 1872.
