red mail Update to entry on Vincent Yenuszaites, possibly Yennis
I have discovered that Vincent returned from the US in 1923 and that his father died in Whipps Cross Hospital in 1925. He used the name Yennis for his passage from New York. During the Forties he lived in Stoke-on-Trent with his half-sister Annie. I suspect that if he had the farm in Runwell or Wickford, it would have been in the second half of the Twenties and/or early Thirties.
red mail Vincent Johnson's farm
There is a story in my family that my great-uncle Vincent Johnson (also known as Vincent Yenuszaites) went to America, earned some good money and bought a farm near Runwell in Essex where he planned to raise chinchillas. Apparently he was duped out of his money and spent the rest of his life dependent on relatives. This all took place in the first 3 decades of the 20th Century. How could I find out the ownership of farms in Runwell at that time? Catherine

Runwell - George Key, my 2 x Great Grandfather, was born in Runwell c.1845. He married Eliza Jones, (born in Rettenden c.1846) c.1871. They were still living in Runwell in 1891. By 1901 Eliza is widowed and living in Swanscombe, Kent, with her sons. I am grateful for all the help I have received on this family, and will leave this message here in case anyone else is interested.
