red mail Burgesses of Hadstock
Hi, we are researching my fiance's family who lived in Hadstock in the late 1800's (and who knows, some still may). We visited the church last spring and found the graves of Salome Burgess (d. 1975) and Ursula Ferrand (d. 1953) who we know were sisters, and inscribed on the War Memorial are two of their brothers, Bennet Leopold & George Edward Lewis Burgess. From research so far we believe there are connections to the Bush and Fordham families also from the area. We would be grateful for any information to assist us in putting a few more leaves on our tree. Many thanks
red mail Dear
I am trying to find a birth record for Alice Dear who married William Turner Fordham in Hadstock, Essex in 1880. The census states she was born in Hadstock but I have been unable to find the record. I need to know the name of her parents.
red mail Hadstock Free's
Hi! My name is David. I'm a born and bred Yorkshire lad but my family roots is from Hadstock, some 5 generations ago. So I would imagine that anyone with links to the Free name will be related to myself as there were a quite a few families of this name in the early 1800s. I am informed that some of my relatives do live in Australia, but some should still be residing here in the UK, surely.

red mail Alfredo
Hadstock churchyard is full of people called Free. The church visitors' book is full of Frees. My Grandfather Alfredo Free evacuated us from London to Thaxted Road, Saffron Walden to stay with the Burgesses in 1940. Was this just a coinicidence or was he connected locally?
