In the 1891 and 1901 censuses an artist / sculptor called BASIL HOLMES lived at 38 Brentwood Road. he is not a family member but a very important link in some research I am carrying out regarding a portrait which he painted in 1870 of an important industrialist called William Thomas HENLEY. Looking for any relatives of the Priors of East Horndon. John Pryer (Prior) born 1771 and Elizabeth Baldwin of The Isle of Wight who married in 1800 at All Saints Church East Horndon. John's Parents were listed as Henry Pryer of Rickling Essex and mother as Mary Prior. (Married before?). John had ten known children these married in families PRATTS/ELLIS/LEWIS/WOOD but to mention but a few. Any one who has a Prior in their tree from this area would love to hear from you.
