Seeking information on: Edward John COLLIS, son of James COLLIS and Emma Selina FREEMAN, was born on 19 August 1901 at 36 Colston Road in East Ham. On 25 September 1901 he was resident at 36 Colston Road in East Ham. He appeared in the census in 1911 in Forest Gate. On 2 April 1911 he was resident at 58 Stafford Road in Forest Gate. He died in February 1990 in Colchester, Essex. There are two possible marriages: Q3 1921, West Ham, 4a, 140 Edward J Collis = Jennie M Fowke Q1 1925, West Ham, 4a, 100a Edward J Collis = Ella E Wright I can't see a death of a Jennie Collis between 1921 and 1925, so these probably represent two different Edward J Collis, and I can't find any children? Any help would be much appreciated.

I am searching for the location of the Tyzack blacksmith smithy in East Ham in the early 1900's. I have seen it recorded in Talbot Road, but am doubtful that is correct as it is not marked like other smithys of the time on contemporary detailed maps.

Mary Maria Newman died in East Ham in 1923, age 77, and is buried in St Mary Magdalene. Some years later William Bushill was buried in the same grave and later still his son in law Thomas Farra. Can anyone give me a lead as to the connection between Mary Maria and these people or any information about her previous life? All I know is that she was the widow of William John Newman (Stevedore) and that son W. J. Newman was present at her death on 9 Mar 1923 at 19 Wellington Road. (Examples of good connections would be if her maiden name were Farra, Shildrick, Fielding, Saveall or Chumbley.)

Joseph was buried in St Mary Magdalene church on 18 Dec, 1870. He was a coachman in London and presumably those gravesites were full. I have no idea why he was buried in Essex. What I would like to know is -any details on the burial registry to confirm if this is 'my' JW who was born c. 1812 in Windsor, Berkshire? Is there a gravestone and is a photo possible? Is there a Mary Ann buried there (1881) too? Thank-you for any help you can give.

I'm looking for anyone who lived in Market Street, East Ham or Melbourne Road, East Ham around 1906 who might know members of my family. My grandmother Alice Sheldrick was born in Market Street and taken in by an aunt by the name of Bushill/Bushell in Melbourne Road and was one of about 15 other children in the house. My grandmother was an only child and therefore I know of no other relatives. If anyone knows any Bushills/Bushells from this area or any other information I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

My parents, myself & two brothers were evacuated from East Ham in 1939, I was 3 years old at the time.We lived at either 112, Market St. or 162, Skipsey Avenue.We lived at both houses at some time or the other. My gran lived in Chauntler Road & my other gran lived at the side of Silvertown Docks. Most of my Aunts, Uncles & cousins live in the London area, & we have never met & have no way of getting in touch. I am 70 years old now & have grown up without any close relatives, except my own sisters & brothers. My Holloway family goes back to the begining of the Parish registers in East Ham. Obviously a lot of marriages took place but not always at the East Ham Parish. Therefore I do not have the bride's maiden name in some cases. I am particularly trying to trace the maiden name of Barbara who was born in Hailfax Nova Scotia CANADA in 1796 who married William HOLLOWAY around 1813-15? Many of my direct Holloway relatives were called George or particualy William. My family ran the White Horse Inn on and off for several years. Fred HOLLOWAY came to Australia in 1881. Searching for information regarding family members of ALFRED RICHARD BROWNE, born 26 Jul 1867 Bromley St Leonards - printer compositor, and his wife HARRIET BROWNE (NEE FLOYD) born 1867 born in Mile End Old Town My last batch of certificates hasturned up some good news. Alfred Edward Browne's eldest son Alfred Richard marriage certificate was found. I found the marriage certificate of 1888 Marriage 25 dec 1888 - parish chuch stepney alfred richard brown age 21 - 26 grovenor st - fatheralfred ed brown - stoker harriet floyd age 21 - 26 grovenor st - father william james floyd in presence of henry p campfield & alice floyd (sister) checking the 1891 census I found the young couple as BROWNE in Mile End Old Town with onechild Matilda A Browne. I also checked the 1891 census for FLOYD and found Harriets parents with a girl with the surname BROWNE. After narrowing it down I decided that the Alfred and Harriet Brown in East Ham must be the correct ones. They lived at 94 Southborough Road (Manor Park) East Ham in 1901. Parish church St Mary The Virgin Little Ilford. (E12) - I can find the street - must no longer exist. The census shows that Alfred & Harriet had three children ! Dorothy Maud Browne, born Bromley...
