DICKERSON , Custom House , Essex
My DICKERSON folk of interest appear in England censuses , including the 1881 census . The family is residing at Custom Street . The head of the Family is Arthur Dickerson (1845-1896) , his wife Rosa Mary ( nee Watkins ) , (1848 - 1927 ). The couple's children include a male Watkins , along with their Dickerson offspring , most of whom were born in Canning Town , Essex. Does any reader have information or interest , I wonder ?

M A SMEED widow
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this one please? These are the details from the Death Certificate of my gg grandfather: Where and when died: Seventeenth February 1900 Union Workhouse Leytonstone (.......?) Name and Surname: William Champion Smeed Sex: Male Age: 55 years Occupation: Dock Labourer of 24 Adamson Road Custom House Cause of Death: Bronchiolar Certified by E Vallance MRCS Signature, description and residence of informant: M A Smeed Widow of deceased present at death 24 Adamson Road Custom House When Registered: Nineteenth February 1900 Signature of registrar: W Miller Deputy Registrar The problem is that the death was reported by his widow M A Smeed, and I have her death certificate from 10 years earlier! She was Mary Ann Smeed and died 1890 at the age of 38. Did William remarry to another Mary Ann? I can't find one on FreeBMD. At the time of his wife's death William was working as a steward on the Mail Steamer SS Cuzco of the Orient Line. Could he have married her aboard ship? Would someone be able to search the 1901 Census for 24 Adamson Road to see if it sheds any further light please. The original Mary Ann was born Umtalla, India 1851. Many Thanks
