According to the 1901 cencus my great aunt Jane watson was living at High Street Confectioners Shop Wolsingham her Occupation is listed as Grocer ,Jane was born 1868 in wolsingham ,according to the 1911 cencus she was still living at the same address,but also living at that address was her brother john who is listed as occupation as working in the steel works as a labourer moulder. Her elder sister Elizabethis also at the Address .Could anyone tell me if jane ran the shop or owned it,and if Jane ever married ? Ann

Thomas Rodham Cockburn was born in Wolsingham in 1869. He was a coal miner and married Annie Souter. I know Thomas's father was called William Rodham Cockburn and he was married to Jane. Ralph and Catherine Hodgson lived in Meadhope Street Wolsingham in 1841,1851 and 1861 censuses - children Elizabeth born 1829, Anthony 1834, Mary Jane 1839. Elizabeth never married but had 4 children John 1852, Mary Jane 1856, Jane 1862 and Frances 1865/66. Frances also unmarried gave birth to my grandfather George Garnett Hodgson in Stanhope Workhouse in 1891. Does anyone have any information about Frances or her brother and sisters?

My mother-in-law was born in Walsingham on 8th August 1920. Her name was Eleanor Mary Grant and she was christened at St Josephs Catholic church in Tow Law on 21st Sept 1920. Her parents names were John born 1890 and Catherine Grant formerly Riley born 1894.Catherine and Robert were married at St Charles Church Tudhoe in October 1915. Eleanor had 2 younger sisters Eileen and Bettie who we think were born in Wolsingham or the surrounding areas in the 1920's but moved to Bradford in the mid 1930's.I can trace Eleanors birth registration but not her sisters. On his marriage Robert was living in Tudhoe and his marriage cert. states he was a sapper in the 6th Durham Light Infantry and his fathers name was Peter Grant (deceased)coalminer but I cannot find any link to him, I think he would have been born in the 1860's. Any info would be gratefully received
