I am seeking information about my gg grandparents John Renton and Jane Blackstone or Blaxton. John Renton was a teacher in Leadgate. They had four children William b.1836, Annie b. 1837, Margaret b. 1838 (my g.grandmother)and George b. 1843. They lived in Tanfield. Jane was previously married to Cuthbert Harrison in 1823, they had 2 children Jane b. 1827 (married James Urwin 1852) and Cuthbert b. 1829. Annie came to Australia with her half sister Jane Urwin and her 2 children in 1856 and married Nicholas LaFontaine in 1860, Margaret came in 1875 and married Peter Power in 1876.
1881 census shows my husband's g-grandfather & family living at 48 Joiceys Sq Tanfield. Seeking information re William Dodd ROBSON or wife Sarah Jane USHER. William & Sarah emigrated to Australia in 1886 along with 3 daghters Jane, Isabella & Mary (aka Polly). In 1890 a son Thomas was born.
I have a Henry Horsley who was born in Coggeshall(may be Colchester) in Essex. On the 1881 census he was a labourer in Coggeshall but by the 1901 was in Tanfield as a coal Hewer. His wife was Jane and I think he had a child Alice and perhaps Dorothy. Does anyone know anything about this family?
