COOPER Raymond, I am wondering if someone can tell me if the employee records for PYREX workers still exist somewhere? Raymond COOPER worked for the company, not sure what capacity, he died at an early age of 38 in 1959, he did not originate in Sunderland, we think Yorkshire? but are really not sure, we are trying to ascertain his full date of birth, the death certificate does not record it, we are at a loss as to how we can go forward with his line without it and we thought his employee record? he also Served in the Army but this will cost £30 to request a search for his records but this will be difficult as we have scant details. The details I know of him say he was a twin to a sister and the last known residence for the family was BRIDLINGTON, where they ran a B+B. If anyone can help or if you think these details are familiar, any help would be appreciated. K

I have more information on my earlier post.........( Hello, I`m trying to find info on My G/G/Grandad John Armstrong. The only details I have are from his sons Marriege Certificate. It states George William Armstrong age 24 Batchelor, Forgeman, At time of Marriage he was living at number 1 Warren Street Sunderland and his Father was listed as John Armstrong (deceased) He had been employed as a Sawyer. I`ve looked through free BMD but there are a lot of John Armstrongs who were either Married or had died within what I`m guessing is the timeframe. I did find a Jane Armstrong (widow) in the 1881 Census living at 45, Silver Street, Sunderland who was a Canvas Weavers Spinner and she had a son George aged 13 (right age group for my G/Grandad) and a daughter named Frances of 20. I don`t have any other census resources at this time to go back further and see. if she was married to a John so could anyone please help me, I`d greatly appreciate it) The information I received "thanks to 2 members" is that I now know the Silver Street Armstrongs are not connected to me and There was an entry in 1891 Census as follows......1891 census Warennes St Bishop Wearmouth Sunderland Thomas Knight 25 Jane Knight 22 Eleanor Knight 2 John Knight 1 George Armstrong b-in-law 24 Forge Labourer b Sunderland Victoria Armstrong s-in-law 15 b Sunderland. Don`t know if they`re mine or not but there are ages so It might be possible to check for Johns death between Victorias Birth 1876 going forward for a few years? It may also be possible to trace a marriage between Thomas and Jane, with that I could order a Marriage certificate to see if her father is John. "I do note that her 1 year old son is named John" maybe after his Grandfather, does anyone have any resources to check these things out for me please? Thank you in advance :)

red mail Patrick McCaffrey
Seeking descendents of Patrick McCaffrey born in Ireland around 1797, married Isabella Smith in 1818. Patrick and Isabella had at least 5 children according to the 1841 census. My line of descent is through Grace Caffrey, their grand daughter, who married Isaac Carlisle (my great great grandfather) in 1878. Seems the Mc was dropped at some stage. Patrick appears in Bishopwearmouth
red mail William Henry Purvis 1885
Hello All - I would like any if possible about what happened to William Henry Purvis born in 1885 in Sunderland after the early 1920's. What I can tell you about William is that he is the eldest son of John Purvis & Jane Ann Carr... When William was aged 13yrs his father died, then by the 1901 his mother and other 3 siblings are all listed at 50 Dundas Street, Monkwearmouth in their uncles house. On the 1901 census William is record as being at: North Eastern Reformatory, Netherton, Stannington, Northumberland. Then in 1909 William Henry Purvis married in Sunderland to Annie Burnell. In the governments records of all birth this couple are recorded as the parents of the following children:1916 George William Purvis, 1918 Arnold Purvis, 1921 John Purvis, 1924 Joseph Laverick Purvis... with each record their mothers maiden name is recorded as Burnell as you would normally expect to see... yet upon buying the birth certificates William Henry Purvis is not recorded as their father and on each birth record the is a dash, no father is name in each case... Then in 1932 Annie Purvis nee Burnell then gets married a second time to a Joseph Laverick... in my opinion there has to be more than just a simple coincidence that Annie Burnell when still married to William Henry Purvis name her 4th child Joseph Laverick Purvis.. To be honest what really happen in the relationship between Annie Burnell and William Henry Purvis is not really that important to me even though admittedly I have a slight curiosity. I have spoken and exchange info on other sites to some of Annie Burnell's direct descendants yet none of them say or seem to want to tell me what happen.. it maybe try that they do not know what really happen or they are simply choosing not to tell me!.. Anyway... The thing that I am seriously interested in is what happen to William Henry Purvis who was born in 1885?? I did buy one death certificate of a William Henry Purvis who died on the 27th May 1947 in South Hetton, Haswell who was the same aged as my William Henry. After more research in the person named on the death cert I purchased and the informant on the death cert who was a cousin to the deceased I had to rule out the William Henry Purvis on the death cert as mine! Can Anyone out there please help or point me in the right direction? Did My William Henry Purvis born in 1885 in Sunderland who would would have been 40yrs old in 1925 re marry?... if so on a second marriage cert his father would have been named as John Purvis and deceased... does anyone out there possible descend William?.. or does anyone at all know anything about what happen to him after the 1920's? Any help ould be appreciated!! Many Thanks!!.. James

red mail Graham/Watson/Peverley
I am looking for info on the marriage of Eleanor Graham and William Peverley. The marriage probably took place the early 1800s. I found a marriage for William Peverley and Eleanor Watson Dec. 6, 1809 Sunderland. I found 3 children showing Eleanor Graham as the mother and 1 showing Helen Graham as the mother. I found an earlier marriage for Eleanor Graham to a Henry Watson on Dec. 19, 1799, Sunderland. I found 1 child, Henry Watson Jr. born July 1, 1799. One of the children of Eleanor Graham was baptized on the same date as the marriage of William Peverley and Eleanor Watson. I am wonderong if these two Eleanors are the same person. If anyone has any info on this matter, I would be grateful to receive it. It is possible that when Eleanor Graham (Watson) remarried she went back to her maiden name.
