Am seeking information re Robert WILKINSON, father of Mary Sarah Wilkinson (no info on Robert's wife). Am estimating that Robert was born late 1790 or early 1800 and Mary Sarah was born about 1820. I am having difficulty in tracing either his parents or his baptism but I think that his family may have come from KittyCrag in Westgate. Accoring to the Joiner Marriage Index, my 3rd GGF John Hodgson married Elizabeth Gardener in Stanhope on 28 July 1821. Surmising from the 1841 census, Elizabeth's mother was Ann Gardener (spelled Gardiner in the census), born about 1774 in Middlebeck, Durham. The family moved to Auckland St Andrew prior to the 1841 census, on which John is listed as born in Highry, Durham, about 1796 amd Elizabeth is listed as born in Hownwell, Durham, about 1801. Any information on the families would be appreciated.

I am trying to find out who lived at Hawthorne /Thorne Cottage Back Lane in 1915. My Mother Mary Elizabeth Morris was born there I am sure my Grandmother,Annie Morris nee Duffy did not own the property and must have been a lodger or staying with friends. I am trying to find out what her connection was with Stanhope as her family were from Newcastle. The house looks as if at sometime it was part of Liecester House wich stands on Front Street.The address could also have been known as 64 Back Lane.

Silas Westgarth
Trying to track down a Silas Westgarth born 1866 or 1867 in Stanhope, Durham, England. I can only find information about him in the 1881 England Census Record (no birth information either - the census lists him as being born in Stanhope). Then he 'disappears' until registering a birth in Australia in 1899. Trying to see if it is the same person and if so, how did he arrive in Australia as he is not in any shipping records from England.
