red mail 1911 photo of ~50 Neasham Children
My great-grandparents Eliza (nee Sowerby) and Robert Bird lived in the Sockburn area from around the turn of the 20th century until 1915. Robert was a gamekeeper at the Sockburn estate. I have a photo taken in 1911 of approximately 50 school-aged children standing in front of a very large unlit bonfire stack, presumably in readiness for a Guy Fawkes celebration in the village. It is quite a clear photo and almost all of the children plainly visible although the photo does not list/show any of the names of the children. I am happy to share a copy of the photo if anyone is interested.
