red mail Robert Raine 2/12/1850
I am the great grandson of Robert Raine and Eliza Turnbull, and grandson of Robert Dobson Oswald and Dorothy Emma Raine. Robert Raine was born in Heighington in 1850 and died in Darlington in 1920 and was son of John Raine 1801 of Redworth and Elizabeth Hughf 1812. Eliza Turnbull was born in Longframlington in 1847, daughter of Matthew Turnbull born 1812 Netherwitton and Susannah Hedley born 1813 or 14 in Longhorsley. Robert Raine was a farmer at one point and farmed Great Coop Farm, near South Hetton, when he retired to Darington he called his house Coop House. If you know anything, please contact me. Thanks
red mail HOUFE Arthur & Margaret Knaggs & Eliza Tweddall
I am looking for the of family for Arthur Thomas Houfe and Margaret Knaggs married 1926 @ Darlington. Was this Arthur Thomas Houfe a Widow when he married?? Did he bring any children from a previous marriage into this one with Margaret Knaggs?? I know that this couple lived their lives in Shildon and Heighington, Durham. He may have told family he was born in Germany!! If I am correct his first wife was Eliza Tweddall married 1901 Thirsk. I believe this is the brother to my Great Grandmother and would love to find his family as he "disappeared" as a young man. So if you are researching this man and have come up against a brick wall I may well be able to help you. Thank you.
Mary Musgrave of Redworth buried Heighington1767
I am trying to find information on Robert Musgrave and his wife Mary who were married in Aycliffe on 23 Oct 1729 .... but there the trail seems to end. .... I have however, found a burial record for two Musgraves in Heighington. One is for a Robert Musgrove (acceptable variation), buried Heighington St, Michael on 17th Oct 1745, .. and the second is for a Mary Musgrave, of Redworth, buried Heighington St. Michael on Jan 5th 1767 ... but there is no way of knowing, from the NBI., if they were husband and wife, or even related for that matter? ........If anyone out there has seen the original Parish Record or Bishop's Transcript,, and/or has these two in their tree, and knows more about them, I would really like to hear.

James Robson Wilson was my Gt Gt Grandfather, he married Hannah Carter in Newcastle Upon Tyne in November 1840. At the time of the 1841 census they were living with John and Elizabeth Bowron in Heighington. James was a clerk in an assayer's office at the time.By August 1841 James & Hannah had moved to Cockerton where their first son was born. By this time James was working as a schoolmaster. His son was christened John Bowron Wilson. I am looking for any information linking the Wilsons & Bowrons and I am looking for any information on schools in the Aycliffe-Cockerton-Darlington area in the 1840's. Charles
