Searching for an Anthony Burns said to have been born in Bishop Auckland. My guesstimate is that he was probably born 1840-1850. He was supposed to have served in a Scottish Regiment in India. He was certainly out of the Army and working for the Railways in India by 1879, when his first known child was born. Family legend has it that he left his wife in India and returned to England, taking some of his sons with him, again guesstimate for this event is 1900 or after. Many thanks for reading.
My husband's great grandparents were Thomas Bell and Hannah Newton from Bishop Auckland in the late 1800's early 1900's. I believe they lived at Douglas Cres, Bishop Auckland. This is all the information I have concerning Thomas Sr and his wife. If anyone can help me I would be glad to hear. Nola
