Abt. 1848; WILLIAM JOHN HUNTER (Died in Quebec); MINNIE (MARY ELEANOR) HUNTER, b. Abt. 1850; FRANCES (FRANCES AUSTIN) HUNTER, b. Abt. 1860; ALICE HUNTER; ALECK HUNTER; GEORGE HUNTER. Anne Jane married John Davis Williams in Bunbeg in 1865 and my husband is a direct descendant of theirs. Although I am looking for details about Thomas and his family, especially their origins I have a partial family tree of his descendants who stayed in Ireland that I am willing to share. Also now specifically looking for information on children of John Hunter who may have married Mary Ewart Norris. Headstone in Parish Church erected by Mary and John's son Thomas Hunter in memory of his parents, brothers and sisters. He was born in 1831 and emigrated to New York. He founded the Normal College in New York, later renamed Hunter College. Looking for information on this side of the Hunter family.

Cooley's death. I have tried to "back door" this Alexander Cooley in order to TRY and find a specific location within County Down, Ireland since I had not known this information prior. Only knew "County Down". I have found (I believe) the only Alexander Cooley in County Down with a close birth year/death that COULD be MY John Cooley's brother...there by narrowing down a location to try and search parish records if they exist. The area which best matches is Ballygrainey, Holywood, County Down Ireland. IF THIS SURNAME or Alexander Cooley rings a bell with anyone as a GGG Grandfather (I know he had children=known=a Andrew, Alexander "jr", a John...)a GG Grandfather? SOMETHING! ANYTHING! I am trying to find out if there are any Potts out there who recognize this history. In 1733 three brothers, William (d.1756), John and Andrew, buy a farm together at Cappagh. William has a son, Andrew who has a son John. John marries Mary Todd. They have 3 sons - John (who went to the U.S.), Andrew (no issue), and James (b.1786) who married Jane Alexander, and 4 daughters (names not known). James had a son, Andrew (b.16 Nov 1819) who married Esther Sturgeon, and 2 daughter who died in infancy. Andrew had 4 children - James (b. 1850, whose descendents are in New Zealand), John Sturgeon (b. 1851, Australia), Mary (b. 1853, Married William Mulligan and went to America) and Elizabeth (b. 1854). Andrew married a second time to Eliza Jane (Alexander) Spiers and had 3 more children - Andrew Alexander (my great grandfather, b. 1859, went to New Zealand and married Louisa Lily Vant there in 1886), Jane Alexander (b. 1861), William Albert (b. 1864). Eliza also had a child from a previous marriage - Elizabeth Spiers (b. 1854). In a letter Andrew Alexander wrote to his brother James in 1889, he mentions Loughbrickland Presbyterian church and 'Willie's exhibits at the Banbridge cattle show'. I would like to be able to confirm this history, flesh it out, as well as contact any descendents. Margaret.

Hi can anyone help me with my CASSIDY and DORAN family.bOTH MY GREATGRAND PARENTS according to the 1891 census came fro CASTLEWELLAN IRELAND.My greatgrandfather THOMAS CASSIDY was born about 1823. I know he finnaly came to Cumberland where my grandfather PETER was born and the only reference to him was in the 1891 census and i know he was not buried in Cumberland because i have been through the burial records. My greatgrandmother was called AGNES DORAN and was born about 1849,DORAN could be her maiden name or she could have been marrid before coming to Cumberland we just do not know.AGNES died in 1923 in Cumberland. Patrick was born/baptised in April 1797 in the parish of Clogher. He had two brothers - John baptised 27 Feb 1798 and James baptised 27 Jul 1799. Their parents were Thomas RATH and Anne LYNCH. He joined the British army on 17 Jul 1826 at Drogheda, becoming a member of the 50thQueen's own Regiment of foot (West Kent). He came to Australia as a guard on the convict ship 'Lady Nugent' in Apr 1835. On his attestation papers, Patrick had said he was a weaver, was 22 yrs old. On 10 September 1799 Willian Sheridan Hamilton was christened at Donaghcloney Co. Down. He was the son of William Hamilton and his wife Mary ...(surname unknown) Does anyone know anything more of this family are there any M.Is or headstones in the local Church of Ireland||? He served in the Army in India and married Hannah Betham in 1834. He died in India in 1838. Even the smallest peice of information would be gratefully received.

I am looking for relatives of Richard Tumilty (born 1840ish) County Down Ireland. Richard married Catherine Mulvanny/Mulvaney (born 1843ish) County Down Ireland. They emigrated to America in the 1870's and had a son Henry (born 1876, New York). Leaving America they settled in Liverpool where they had two daughters Mary(born 1879/80) and Sarah(born 1882. Mary married James Boyle and Sarah married William Rowlands. From all accounts Henry was a seafaring man supposedly settling back in America. Has anyone any more information about the Mulvanny's or Tumilty's from Ireland.
