red mail Hammond & Parsons
I am researching my Hammond ancestors who lived around Moira, Co Down in the 19th century. Mary 1783-1870 with 3 sons Richard ,Robert, and John and their families are buried in St Johns parish churchyard. My great grandfather James Allen Hammond married Eliza Hunter in 1861 in Cairncastle,Co Antrim and I think he is John`s son. I would love to know who Mary`s husband was and when and why they came to Moira. James's son, Samuel Hunter Hammond, was born in Derrydrumnalt 1864 and moved to London to marry, in 1890, Frances Sarah Parsons (born in Ireland 1864) She was the daughter of Richard Parsons, an excise man, described on the London 1911 census as "Dublin resident" but I can't find any record in Ireland of the Parson family.
