red mail William Blain and Mary Maxwell, 1812
There was a marriage conducted on 19 Feb 1812, of William Blain and Mary Maxwell, in Donaghadee. The officiating minister was Alexander Goudy. The couple then went to live in Wigtownshire in Scotland, 20 miles across the Irish Sea. I don't know whether they were from there or from County Down! However there seem to have been several other marriages conducted by this A. Goudy - which had to be approved by by a Scottish kirk session if people crossed the water... Anybody know about Goudy, or about these people?
