Looking for information on the DAVIS family.WILLIAM DAVIS married AMELETTA WHITE in 1825. Their children were: JAMES(b.1826 married VIRTUE STANLEY), JANE(b.1829 married an ALLEN), FRANCES(b.1831 married JOHN JEFFREY), WILLIAM(b.1833 married CLAUDINA GOULD), THOMAS(b.1836), LEAH(b.1838 married ALFRED MAIDMENT), JOHN(b.1840)and AMELETTA(b.1843).Father William's parents were JOSEPH DAVIS and FRANCES ANTHONY(married 1803 at Milbourne St. Andrew). The couple appear to have had only one other child, CHARLES(b.1813).Joseph's parents were JOHN DAVIS and HANNAH APLIN.Ameletta White's parents were GEORGE WHITE and JANE CROSS.Apart from Ameletta(b.1804), the couple had RICHARD(b.1801 married MARIA DAVIS his cousin), HANNAH(b.1806 married JAMES WELLSTEAD), GEORGE(b.1809 married SOPHIA BASON) and JANE(b.1814) I would also be interested to hear from anyone who has the first name of AMELETTA or near variants in their family tree as all those that have contacted me so far have been related - it seems to be a name peculiar to my family in Dorset !

red mail Emmanuel Snook at Higher Whatcombe
My great great grandfather Emmanuel Snook lived all his life in a farmhouse at Higher Whatcombe, north of Winterborne Whitechurch. He died there on 1 April 1903. He was a farm worker and a Methodist lay preacher, and he is buried at Winterborne Whitechurch, and there is a memorial plaque on the west wall of the church. Emmanuel Snook is mentioned in my forthcoming book about my grandmother, Mabel Bessie Llewellyn, titled It Might Have Been Raining, published by Elijah Editions, and I should be grateful for any details about him and his home, please.
