red mail Jeremiah/James and Lot - adopted the surname MARSH
I'm trying to trace the births and/or baptisms of two ancestors that were born possibly Gillingham, Dorset or Cucklington, Somerset depending on which census you look at. They were brothers. Jeremiah (who later used the anem James) was born 1863 (possibliy in November if a family bible is accurate - and they aren't always!) and Lot circa 1867. In census records their father was called John MARSH and their mother Eliza. They both used the surname MARSH throughout their adult lives but havng failed to find birth/baptism records for them as MARSH an elderly relative has now said she thinks they were not John Marsh's sons but used his surname. So their birth surname could be .....well, anything! I would like to know if anyone has any access to the baptism records of Gillingham or Cuklington in the 1860's who could please see if there were any baptisms for Jeremiah or John c1863 and/or Lot c1867 with any surname that I could then set to work on? If anyone has any information on these then I'd be very interested and grateful. Or any suggestions as to how else I might be able to try to find these boys. Many thanks
